Chapter 16
NORMALITY

PREVIOUSLY

I knew somewhere, along with that burning debris was Clark and Zod. I took off into the direction the burning rubble flew into. It took some time to locate it, but after seeing a crowd if people outside, surround the location...I immediately knew.

I forced my way through the crowd of people, and ran into the place. I watched as Clark had Zod in a head lock, while Zod shot lasers from his eyes at 4 individuals. Their screams for help and Clark's struggle...

He didn't want anyone to die, not even Zod.

I watched as the two adults protected the kids from getting harmed. Their screams filled my ears. I came to a stop, there was nothing I could possibly do at the moment. My hands were tied...

"Stop!" Clark yelled out to Zod.

He didn't want them to be hurt, not did he want to kill Zod. He was too compassionate, but in this situation, Clark was cornered. He had two choices, and he had to choose in his own.

"Never." Zod says and the laser gets closer to the four people.

Tears began to pull from me eyes...and I could see the same was happen to Clark.

With all his effort...he did the only thing he thought was fit - he killed Zod. The laser stopped and Zod went fallung to the ground completely lifeless...

And hopefully he stayed that way forever.

I don't mean to come off harsh, but having someone like Zod, kill innocent lives, it's just wrong. He needed to learn that actions have consequences, but from my point if view, I saw that he wanted to corner Clark, test how much he did love us humans.

I watched as Clark fell to his knees seconds after Zod fell lifeless to the ground. He lets out a loud and painful scream.

It was understandable...Zod was the only thing, only person left from his home planet, not to mention that Zod knew his parents.

Maybe Clark had hoped that maybe, just maybe Zod would have a change of heart. And maybe, just maybe there was a part of Zod that would tell Clark of where he comes from...but I didn't know.

I ran towards his, and stopped in front of him. He saw me and I moved closer. I hugged him and he hugged me back. I hated seeing him so hurt, because it hurt me too.

Taking a life...I must not be easy, no matter if the person was bad or good. It still took something out if you. But sometimes we couldn't save everyone no matter how hard we try, and how much we push ourselves.

Minutes of silence passed and we remained there in the same position, unoccupied.

"It's okay." I said and used my one hand to play with his hair, a comforting motion.

Metropolis was going crazy after the incident with Zod, that had taken place two days ago. The news had been bombing up the entire television.

And to many this was an eye opener. We weren't the only ones out there, there were more, and this proved it.

But this was not the direction in which the reporters and journalists took it. All reports and headlines were about Metropolis' Hero. People began to compete and brag about how Metropolis had SUPERMAN while Gothom had Batman.

Meanwhile, Clark and I helped to fix Martha's house. And thanks to Clark's abilities, we just finished up. More needed to be down, but for now, the roof was fixed, and everything was working.

Clark and I had grown very close, he had asked me to be his girlfriend, and Martha was beyond thrilled, saying that she knew this would happen since we became friends. We didn't hide anything from her, her approval meant so much, since I grew up, she was a second mother to me.

The day that followed, I had to return to Metropolis.

And that's when Clark's worries became worse. He worried about me, but I promised that I would be fine and that I would call everyday.

We had worked something out, but that would only take place months later, and I couldn't wait for it.

Finally Metropolis was returning to it's former glory, it would take time for everything to be fully restored and functional. But for right now, it all had to so...it all just had to do perfectly.
