Since you've been dating Hattori everything was going well until now. There were no fights or anything remotely close to that but something was wrong. Every time you walked into his office and saw that picture of Kana you couldn't help but feel guilty for his past.

Of course it wasn't your fault per say but at the same time, he loved her so much and you felt like nothing but a replacement. She was already married and he told you countless times he accepted it was impossible for them to be together.

It was a night like any other, Hattori was working hard on paperwork and you were trying to read yourself to sleep. Finally, you were whisked away to dreamland but this dream was no walk in the park.

You stood in Kana's place, the night the two of them asked Akito if they could get married. You could see clear as day Akito pushed Hattori to a mirror which shattered upon impact. Blood leaked from his right eye as he clutched it in pain.

Then Akito grabbed you and yelled in your face how Hattori would never love you and that it would never be okay.

The next thing you knew, you had tears in your eyes as you woke up. Hattori not in bed.

So, you ran down the stairs to see the doctor still leaned over his computer, tired and frustrated.

"Tori."

He slowly turned his head in your direction but as soon as he saw your crying he quickly got up.

Your slow crying turned to immediate sobbing as you both locked eyes.

He practically ran to you and scooped you up in his arms.

"(Y/N)! What's wrong!? Are you hurt!?"

"No. I'm so sorry Hattori! I'm so sorry!"

It took him aback that you said his first name because you usually used his nickname.

"What're you talking about, (Y/N)?"

"I had this nightmare where I saw or I guess dreamed what happened to you and Kana. I know you tell me you've moved on but I just can't help feeling like I've done something wrong."

"I made the choice to move on and to erase her memory. Even if I could undo it I wouldn't because I love you. It's true I still care about her but I'm no longer in love with her. She doesn't give me a racing heart or a jolt of fear like you when you're hurt or scared. I don't check to see if she's sick, I check you. I'll always choose you,(Y/N)."

"I'm not saying you don't love me I just feel like you love her as well. You risked someone from outside the Sohma clan finding out the curse., I'll never be her."

"I'm not asking you to be her, I just want you. You and you alone. How many times do I have to say I love you?"

You buried your face in his chest as he cradled you in his arms. He watched as your whole  body shook while you cried, he wondered what had happened to make your heart break so bad.

Finally, you looked up to see a few tears leaving his royal blue eyes.

"Tori, please don't cry! I didn't mean you did anything wrong!"

"I must have to make you cry, I hurt you so much. It's my fault for all of this."

He only held you tighter and you  could hear his breathing grow fast.

"Hattori Sohma. You have done nothing but been kind and helpful to me for all the time I've known you. You aren't to blame for any of this."

"How'd I get so lucky with a girl like you? You're caring, passionate and so selfless."

"You're pretty passionate too, after all you are a doctor, you have to be that way. I'm not the only selfless person here."

"Yes but compared to you it's nothing special, you can do everything I could only dream about."

"Like what?"

"Cook, cheer people up, dance, play violin and to top it all off, you're the greatest person I've ever fallen for."

"You save lives, make me happy and you always keep the people close to you safe. That's all I could ever want, Tori."

His smile returned as he picked you up off the couch then set me down.

"I've got to get something, can you stay here really quick?"

"Sure thing."

He walked quickly up the stairs then you heard the door creak open, then shut abruptly.

You could hear his footsteps come down the stairs then out the hallway. He was smiling wider than usual and it concerned you how the mood had changed so suddenly.

"(Y/N), there's something I have to ask you."

"What is it?"

Before you could take any guesses the question was revealed. He didn't have to say a word.

He dropped to one knee in front of you, holding a small box with a gorgeous diamond ring.

You immediately wrapped your arms around him and held him tight.

"So I guess that's a yes?"

"Of course, I could never say no to you."

He slipped the ring on your finger and he could feel his eyes grow teary as he recalled the past events. He'd never let this girl get hurt by him or anything else. Not even Akito.

You leaned your head against his shoulder and suddenly you were falling into his arms as he caught you.

"Good thing I caught you, you could've gotten seriously hurt...(Y/N)?"

You had fallen asleep or most likely fainted.

He tried to step carefully around the house, so the floorboards and stairs creaking wouldn't disturb you.

He set you down in bed, pulled the covers over you and switched off the light then got in bed too.

"Goodnight, Mrs. Sohma. He kissed the top of your head and fell asleep to wake up with you curled up in his arms the next morning.
