III Tuesday Night III

Bruce Wayne is caught outside Sentinel Tower by paparazzi and reporters that night. He was checking in on Alex and dropping off files for the absent Allison Gray. Vicki Vale is front and center with her camera and recorder and Bruce assumes the rest of the journalists and photographers are freelancers because he owns all the newspapers besides Gotham City Sentinel.

"Mr. Wayne! Mr. Wayne, rumors are flying about a possible new girl in your life, tell us are they true? And will you be taking her to Commissioner Gordon's 15th Anniversary Gala?" Vicki calls out a smirk on her face. Vicki is no fool so of course she put the pieces together after Alex cancelled the dinner though it did take some time to find enough proof.

"All I am going to say is that I will be taking Allison Gray to the gala on Friday night as my date," Bruce replies and winks before sauntering away leaving the reporters in awe at his blunt honesty.

The news is out there now and everyone will be waiting for their debut on Friday night.

III Wednesday Morning III

Alex tries not to be mad or feel betrayed, she really does, but the emotions keep welling up and overcrowding the love and trust she has for Allie. She's been thinking more about that day and finally understanding the little details that seemed out of place.

Why Deathstroke told Allie to get away from Alex, why he even hesitated in the first place.

Why Allie getting shot threw him off guard.

Why Deathstroke violently hissed "She is mine," right before he pulled the trigger.

Alex never understood why he said that and after awhile just forgot about it but now, but now the words ring in her ears over and over.

It's not Allie's fault he did that, so why does Alex still feel so conflicted and hurt?

Alexandra Aldridge stares her phone down, wondering if she should call but unable to bring herself to do it. She can't talk to Allie right now, but she still wants to reach out.

Finally Alex grabs her phone and starts a voice recording.

"I know-I know it isn't your fault," Alex breathes out and her breath hitches before she can start again. "But I'm still hurt and I'm still trying to process." Alex closes her eyes, a few more tears slipping down her cheeks and she swallows down a sob. "I still love you, Allie; I don't know if I can forgive you or even if I need to. All I know is that I need time, maybe a lot of time. This is a temporary goodbye." Alex moves to end the recording before remembering one final message. "Stay safe while we're apart, please." The recording ends and she sends it to Allie before shutting her phone off and putting her head down on her desk.

III Wednesday Night III

Going home to an empty mansion, their empty mansion, opens a gaping hole in her heart, in her chest. She feels utterly empty and cavernous and cold.

Alexandra Aldridge is a lonely sun with no moon to reflect her light on or light up her night sky.

Alex finds herself in her destroyed living room, another fire started, and the tv playing news. The anchorwoman on the screen is rambling about crime and the economy for a long time, Alex barely listening.

"For some more lighthearted news, Bruce Wayne has just confirmed that he and Allison Gray, the personal assistant of Gotham City Sentinel's CEO and Editor-n-Chief, Alexandra Aldridge, will be attending Friday night's anniversary gala together and that she is his official date for the night."

Alex looks up to find the screen displaying a smiling photo of Allie, it was a photo of her and Alex but they cropped Alex out, and then a photo of Bruce winking at reporters outside the tower. Alex sniffles and laugh sardonically, of course the show must go on.
