"Please just explain this to me." Victor whispered in defeat. His eyes... Oh his beautiful brown eyes showed so much pain. I couldn't even bear to to look at him.
"Victor, please..." What was I suppose to say? That the Alpha of this pack was my mate... and he rejected me two years ago because I was fat and ugly? As if on cue, Dylan came down the stairs. In a fresh pair of clothes with his hair in a mess.
"Hello, Victor." He said, respectfully. I watched Victor as he lunged at Dylan, I made it to him just in enough time to hold him back before he made it to Dylan. I hold on to him with all my might; I felt him getting ready to shift — his wolf scratching to the surface. Oh God, please don't let him shift now. He began to become too much to hold. I glanced at Dylan and saw that he was looking dumbfounded.
'Alvin!' I called when I felt Victor wolf surfacing.
"Dylan, get the hell outta here!" I shouted at him.
"Let him go." He replied calmly. That seemed to rail Vic up more.
"Are you challenging me?" He shouted. I was using all of my strength now, and when I felt that I was going to give up, Alvin came through the door. Thank the Lord. Alvin went straight to Victor and moved him from Dylan and me taking him to the other side of the room. I went to Dylan and took him all the way to the opposite side of the room. The last thing we needed was the Alphas fighting. And for what? Me, but I'm nothing.
"Dylan, you need to get outta here."
"No! This is my house and my territory!" He shouted.
He was getting to caught up in the whole ego thing that he didn't even see that the bigger picture of the entire situation. I shoved the picture in his face he took it and looked at it. "The hunter took a picture and gave it to him... or somehow got it to him, but the point is he saw it."
"And why does it matter?" He asked. What the hell did he mean what does it matter?
"Dylan! I love him!" That's why it mattered!
"You don't belong to him!" He growled. I furrowed.
"I don't belong to anybody," I whispered. I turned on my heel, heading towards Victor and Alvin. Alvin had him under control, but Victor still looked like he wanted to kill Dylan. Suddenly, I was facing Dylan's chest and him wrapping his arm around my waist holding me in place.
"No, you belong to me." He growled possessively. Crashing his lips to mine, he took control and didn't care who was watching. I heard Victor roar with anger from the other side of the room. I managed to push Dylan away. WHy did my body do that? Just react on its own, when I know in my mind and heart that this isn't right.
"Stop," I said and stepped away from him. He grabbed my hand to pull me back, but I didn't get far. Victor was on my other side, grabbing my other hand pulling me towards him.
"We're leaving; you can figure out this shit on your own," Vic growled.
I gasped, an Alpha never breaks his word. No matter what happens... Vic said he'd do something for Dylan... My mate... "Vic..." He turned his glare on me.
"We're leaving." He commanded.
"You can leave, she's not going anywhere," Dylan said. Victor clenched his jaw and pulled me towards him roughly. Then, Dylan followed suit, pulling me towards him. Holy shit, they're playing tug of war with me!
I glanced at Alvin, who was standing next to the window. He looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. At that moment, when I happened to look outside the window, I saw it again — a Hunter. Sniper rifle aimed and ready to fire.
I looked at both Dylan and Victor, choosing. Who would I jump in front of a bullet for? My mate, no matter what happened I couldn't make that part disappear. Or the man that has loved me through it all? I heard the gunfire, causing a huge BOOM! Sound.
I grabbed Victor and threw him at Dylan, causing both of them to fall to the ground. I don't know how I did it, but I managed to choose both of them because they both meant something to me in their ways.
Suddenly, I felt it. The bullet. Not just any bullet, a silver bullet. I felt my body burn up from the inside out, as I fell to the floor.
~*~
(Alvin's POV)
I watched as Cassie fell to the floor. I was dumbfounded. What the hell? I looked out the window and saw a Hunter reloading his weapon; the weapon that hurt her, that could kill her. In seconds the Hunter as in my hands. I took my fist and punched his whole skull in. Killing him instantly. I ran back into the house, looking at both Victor and Dylan kneeling over Cassie.
"Alpha, the Hunter, has been handled," I said monotoned and made my way over to them. Cassie was still awake, her eyes half opened.
Victor held on to her head and cried over her. "I'm so sorry, Cassie." It was just a bullet wound; she should've healed by now. I looked at Cassie; she looked at me.
'It was... a silver.... bullet, Dumb ass.' My eyes widened. I shook my head. No no no! It couldn't be! She couldn't die now. I loved her. She was my best friend and sister. I don't know what I'd do without her.
'Cassie, don't leave me... Please.' I pleaded. I grabbed on to her hand. She tried to smile, but it didn't pull through all the way.
'I'd never leave you.' She whispered to me, sounding as if she was getting further and further away.
'I'm so sorry for all of this, Victor...' She whispered through our link, and he held onto her tighter, pulling her closer to him. His eyes closed tight.
'I love you so much, Cassandra.' I realized that Victor had called her by her full name and not Cassie. He only called her Cassandra when he was angry with her, but he just did it this time out of pure love, and I admired my Alpha for that. He was willing to let her go, but that didn't mean I was.
"Cassie..." I said. She didn't respond. Her eyelids closed all the way closed all the way. "Cassie!" Still no response. I looked at Dylan, her mate. The one that caused all this shit. He was staring her, his eyes changing color. I watched him as he bet into his wrist, blood oozing down his arm. He put his wrist to Cassie's mouth. Her body was not moving. Though, something in my mind told me to look at the source. I lifted her shirt and watched as the silver poison came out of her side and the wound begins to heal.
What the hell did he do to her? He began to stroke her cheek as Victor looked at her wound as stupidly as I was. I watched as Victor came to a realization. He knew now, just like how I knew two years ago.
"I love you, Cassie." The young Alpha whispered to his mate.
