Hunted in the Woods

Chapter 1

This is a story I am halfway through writing. Any ideas or suggestion are more than welcomed just inbox me. I have a general plan of how I want the story to go and end, although I tend to change my mind regularly. As I continue to post I will try to reread each section and catch any mistakes (spelling, etc.). I hope you enjoy and I will do my best to update regularly. Friday 5:30pm

I was driving along the winding road towards the Sea Ridge mall. It was the last thing I had to do before going home for the weekend. I was 10 minutes away from the mall when my phone rang through my car. I clicked the answer button on the steering wheel and heard my boyfriends voice.

"Hey babe, I hope you don't mind but I got Mason an air hockey table and two superhero lego sets."

"You didn't need to buy him anything, but thank you. Mason will love those and you can play air hockey with him till he gets bored of it." I laughed and could picture Aiden rolling his eyes and smirking on the other end of the phone.

"Can you text me after you pick Mason up at your Moms, I want to make sure the cake, decorations and presents are hidden well."

"I will be another hour, I'm just running to the mall to get one more present and pick up the balloons for the party tomorrow."

My moms name popped up my screen, showing she is calling me.

"Aiden, got to go my mom's calling. Love you."

"Love you too!"

I clicked end on the call with Aiden and it automatically put my mom through.

"Hi Sarah."

"Hi Mom, how's Mason?"

"He's good, had a good day at school. Mason wants to know if you are going to Aiden's house tonight?"

"Yes, if Mason is okay with that, I'm almost at the mall and will be at your place not long after."

"Mommy?" Mason shouted on the phone.

"Hi buddy, Mommy is just finishing up an errand then we will go to Aiden's house, eat pizza and watch a movie."

"Yes!" I could hear Mason smile through the phone.

Aiden and I had been dating for a year before I introduced him to Mason. I wanted to make sure it was serious and stable before introducing him to Mason. I had Mason when I was 21 and my relationship with Masons Dad was great. Thankfully I found Aiden and the last two years have been amazing. Aiden also spoils Mason like crazy and Mason enjoys spending time with Aiden. I always check with Mason to make sure everything is okay with him.

"I got to go Mas, love you buddy and tell grandma I love her too."

"Love you Mommy." Mason said before ending the call.

I pulled into a parking spot near the back parking lot of the mall. I don't mind the long walk to the mall and trying to find a parking spot up close is damn near impossible. I locked my SUV and started the walk towards the mall. I parked near the balloon store and the toy store is not too far from it.

By the time I reached the toy store I was sweating, it didn't help that it was summer and I was in my scrubs still. I worked as a nurse in the ER department at the Sea Ridge hospital. Sea Ridge is a fairly busy city but Mason and I loved how busy it could be and how close everything is. I found the hot wheels set Mason had been talking about non stop for the last week and headed to the check out. I grabbed hot wheels balloons from the store and got them to put them in a black garbage bag so Mason wouldn't see what was in there. Although the floating might give it away.

I unlocked my car and put the balloons and toy in the back of my car. I was just about to get into it when I heard a man shout.

"HELP! HELP!!" I ran towards the man shouting and waving his arms around frantically.

"Hello, my name is Sarah and I'm an ER nurse at Sea Ridge hospital, what's wrong?" I said calmly.

"It's my brother we were just parking the van when he grabbed his chest then passed out. It's this way." The man said talking off through the cars I could barely keep up. He stopped at a black van and opened the drivers door then stood back to let me through.

"Hello Sir, my name is Sarah I'm an ER nurse."

I looked into the van and seen a man sitting there with his eyes shut. I put two fingers on the carotid pulse on his  neck and felt a strong pulse. I was confused for a minute then felt a hand and cloth wrap around my face. I tried to pull the cloth off my face and then leaned my weight into the person behind me and kicked my feet against the black van. We hit the vehicle behind us but the attack still didn't let go. I tried to hit his crotch but he moved and pinned both my hands together with his one hand. I could feel myself losing strength and starting to see black. I closed my eyes and let my body go limp. I had to time this right, this is my last shot at escaping these men. I felt hands go under my legs and get lifted up. The man started walking with me, I heard a door open and assumed it was the back doors of the van. If I waited for them to put me in the van I couldn't know if the back doors would open and I could get out.

I waited for the man to lay me down in the back of the van. The metal was cool against my check and arms. I opened my eyes and seen him leaning over me, I kicked my right foot up into his face and seen blood dripping out instantly. I climbed out the back and started running towards the mall.

"HELP ME! THEY ARE TRYING TO KIDNAP ME!" I screamed, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my abdomen and drag me back I screamed even louder this time. I felt the cloth go over my mouth and nose and my screaming turned into muffles.

This was it, my last chance to escape and I blew it. All I could think of was Mason, my parents and Aiden. They would send help eventually, they would be able to find me. I just needed to stay alive long enough for help to come.I felt my eyes grow heavy and my body slouch.
