I was lying on my old bed in my new house, relaxing after moving boxes all day long, when something flew trough my window.
It was a light green paper airplane. It sailed through the air, just below the fan on the ceiling and landed gracefully on the middle shelf of my wooden bookcase. I lifted myself tiredly off my bed and slumped my way to the green plane.
When I picked it up I spun it around in my fingers and looked the way the plane had come from and saw a boy with brown hair and soft blue eyes, who looked around my age.
He mimed opening the plane with his hands that were covered in different colors of paint and smiled with his eyes slightly lighting up. I smiled back before returning my focus to green plane and opening it up.
In the center to the top of the page, the word 'hi' was scrawled with a simple smiley face and an exclamation point in a shade of blue that reminded me of the boy's eyes.
I smiled more and looked back at the boy who was leaning against his off white window bars using his arms that were also covered in paint as a prop for his head, elbows by his ears and wrists crossing under his chin.
I set the paper on my desk and pulled out a glittery purple pen. I quickly scratched out 'Hello!' And drew my own little face next to it before folding it into a plane again and walking to my window.
I kept my eyes trained on the mystery boy as I drew back my arm and gliding it forwards forcefully, letting the green plane fly back to the blue eyed boy.
He backed away from the window and reached out his hand, catching it the second it was through the window. He moved out of the way of the window for a few seconds but when he returned he was fooling it backup again.
He flew it back to me with a smile and I plucked it out of the air the moment before it bumped into my face. I took it once again back to my desk and unfolded it.
This time, under my purple ink, was his reply but in deep pink marker. It said 'My name is Milo Ray. Who are you?'. The words 'Milo Ray' were outlined in the thin blue ink from before.
I felt myself grin as I opened and dug through my draw, pulling out a box full of different colors and types of markers and pens. I decided on a neon orange paint marker, with which I wrote in all caps letters 'I AM LUANA BLUE'. I blew on the orange ink until it had dried and folded the plane back together.
I strode to the window and flew it back to Milo. He stepped aside and let it fly right onto the floor of the seemingly empty room he was in. He pulled his blue pen and pink marker out of pocket in anticipation of his reply, and quickly but carefully opened the plane to read my name.
I could just about see his eyes move as he read my big orange words. He uncapped the blue pen and started to write out something. He was done in just a few seconds and expertly folded the plane back properly.
When he had flown it back through his window and straight into mine, I let it fall to the floor too before I sat down next to it. I unfolded it and read Milo's message: 'Tell me about yourself'.
