Lilly was whistling when Sam woke up. She was whistling. What was she whistling though? That was the question. Sam listend intently on the notation of her musical expression, deperatly trying to desipher the song in which she was blowing through her lips. Then it hit him. Just ever so slowly the lyrics to the piece began to reserfis in his memory.
Nastalgia warmed his body as he remembered a moment from his childhood. His mother holding him in his arms singing the same song to him. So long ago. A happier time. A sweeter place. Innocence that he hadn't had in years.
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Let it shine." His mother sang. After her song she pulled sam close to her heart and rocked him gently. Sam craddled himself into the warmth of her body and felt himself ease until sleep took him away.
"Where did you learn that song?" Sam turned himself around in the old car's back seat to face Lilly.
She was naked and exposed to the world, but she didn't even seem to notice. She stopped whistling and stared at Sam for a moment. She crossed her eyebrows and went into thought. Suddenly she was up and opening the car door, still completely naked, but still not caring and streched her body.
Sam had to be honest. She had a really nice ass. Like way too nice. Like he'd die for that ass. The thought made him laugh to himself.
Lilly opened the fron foor of the car and reached over to the glove compartment. She was obviously looking for something, but Sam had no ideas what. She opened up the compartment and reached inside. Within a moment, she had a crumbled up receipt in her hand, along with a pen. She uncrumpled the receipt and scribled on it whith the pen. At first she seemed frustraited as if the pen wasn't working, but after a second scribble, delight filled her face. She got out of the front, slammed the door and walked back into the back seat. She motioned with her hand for Sam to scoot over, and once he did, she sat cross legged on the seat next to him. She put the receipt on the back of the seat and wrote down something that Sam couldn't see at first, but after a second had passed she handed the note to Sam.
Sam looked down at it and read it allowed. "I want to teach you sign language so we can talk for real." He looked up at her. "When did you learn sign language?"
She rolled her eyes and snatched the receipt back from Sam. She flipped it over and wrote something else under her first note. She finished and handed it back to Sam.
He read it outloud once again. "Marvin taught me a little." He shook his head. "When and why?"
She sighed angrily and swiped the receipt back again. She wrote a note and aggressivly, but adorably, handed Sam the note again.
Sam looked down and read it once more. "In all caps it says, 'Stop asking questions, this is the only paper I have." He looked back up at Lilly. "I'm sorry."
She smiled and leaned over to kiss his cheek. After which she leaned away and prepared her hands in front of her. First, she stuck her left pinky up and held it out in front of herself, then she mouthed the word "I."
"I." Sam repeated.
She scoughed and frustraitedly stuck her finger out again and mouthed the word "I."
"Yes, I. I got it." Sam replyed.
She dropped her head backwards and sighed. She picked up the receipt again and shook her head, discontent with how this whole conversation was going. She handed it to Sam again.
Sam took it and read the receipt, noticing that there was no room for anything else after this last note. He read it again. "Do what I do." He looked confused for a moment and then nodded. "Oh. Sorry."
