"Synthia? What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Well, we ran to the front door once we saw that...thing, whatever it was," Yasmeen said.
"Where's Mary?" Celina asked.
Synthia started to shake her head, and I could tell in the dark that her eyes started watering.
"You're kidding," Tia said.
"No cap..." Yasmeen quietly said.
Dang, now I really screwed up. First the party got ruined and now Mary's gone. All this because of me.
"Why did this day have to come?" Celina cried.
"I know," Synthia agreed, bawling her eyes out.
"And this is all because of me," I sighed.
"How is it your fault?" Nina asked me.
"Well long story short, that beast has been following me since...a certain sleepover that I had at my old house," I said, turning to Celina. She nodded her head, knowing what I was talking about. We all went quiet after my word.
"But listen," Tia broke the silence with, "it's not your fault. There has to be some reason that the monster is following you."
"Yea, she's right," Nina stated.
"Celine, don't worry. It wasn't your fault, like Tia said," Synthia commented, "What we need to do is find out why it wants you so bad that it followed you across the state."
"And it's better to find out what it wants than losing someone else close," Celina added.
"How about we do this on team? Ready, 1,2,3," Yasmeen finished.
"TEAM!" we all screamed. But as we did, the door goes flying wide open.
I looked over my shoulder and there it was again. We all ducked down into the bushes just enough that we can see the beast and it can't see us. It stepped outside, stopped, and sniffed around. Everyone was hiding, looking at it with terrified faces.
"What are we gonna do know?" Tia asked.
"Oh I know!" Celina exclaimed, but quietly, "Celine, remember that one time we went to the fair, and the Boogeyman man was following us?"
"Oh yea last summer," I remembered.
"Oh, so we can try to flash the flashlight on the thing like we did to Boogeyman," Synthia stated.
"Synthia, stop trying to finish my sentences, it was my idea," Celina told her.
"Well sorry, I got excited," she replied in a tone.
"Stop fighting you two and turn on your flashlight!" Yasmeen interrupted.
"Who's going first?" Nina asked. It went quiet again, but I decided I should do something good after all the bad stuff that happened.
"I'll go," I spoke up.
"Good luck, Celine," Tia spoke. Everyone gave me a hug and wished me luck.
"If the thing gets blinded by the light, turn on your flashlight and charge at it. If it doesn't then, I don't know what else to say but goodbye," I stated, as everyone nodded.
I turned on my flashlights and I'm surprised everyone was able to grab their phone, and leave. I slowly got up, brightened my flashlight, and yelled at the thing so it can hear me loud and clear.
"Hey you! You want me or not?" I yelled at the figure. It snarled at me and made a high, shrill sound. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy. But I had to do what had to be done.
