Joseph's lips curled into a smile, his gaze lie on the sky around him. How he'd never been so close to the stars. The sky surrounded him past the sun and beautiful colors swirled atop the wisps of clouds and he felt like he could've been in heaven. He forgot his pain for just a moment, his heart fluttered about the sight around him. He watched Kars' body shoot into space, his fist still out in front of his body. He smiled to himself and felt like he might cry, knowing this was his end. Though he kept his smile and let his fist fall, taking a deep breath of victory and acceptance. His legs ached and he let his body collapse forward against the harsh rocks and stone. Blood trickled down onto the rock from his forehead and he rolled onto his back, watching as the clouds sped away from being so close as he was hurtled back to the Earth. His breath was heavy as he tried his best to relive his memories. The first person who came to mind was Granny Erina. He felt sorry she would have to witness the last Joestar dead, he was all that she and Speedwagon had left. He promised silently that he would comfort her in another life. Then he remembered Ceasar. His heart ached at the thought of his friend, and remembered back to when they'd first met. He'd missed Ceasar like he missed no other. He had never felt such pain as when Ceasar fell, and he saw that crimson ripple pour from beneath the stone that crushed him. Then the only comforting thought that could be conjured would be meeting Ceasar again in whatever awaits after. His heart raced and he smiled brighter as he thought about how even though his death would be horrid and painful, he would be able to tell Ceasar all the things he wanted to say before he rushed into that castle. His heart fluttered and he knew now that he could die happy, spiralling back to the Earth. There was a calm silence, the wind scraping his ears and the sides of his face as more blood seeped from his horribly tattered body. He thought about what he'd just done. He just saved the entire planet from the PillarMen. He couldn't say he'd ever achieved anything greater than that, q soft sigh escaping his lips as he heard the oceans beneath and he braced himself for impact. He felt light and soft, like nothing could hurt him now, even death couldn't vast her icy gaze on him.
Ceasar smiled, sitting comfortably next to Joseph. He looked down at his friend and thought a sort of sympathy.
I know what you wanted to say, JoJo.
His voice was masked by the wind and the sound of waves crashing below.
You cannot die yet, my dear. You have a long life ahead of you. There is too much work to do.
He knew Joseph couldn't hear him as he spoke, but he knew Joseph felt when Ceasar stood and ripped his body away from the rock as it hit the ocean, using all the energy he could to hold Joseph up before he could safely drop JoJo onto the fragments of rock that float in the ocean after the impact. Ceasar then returned to his place by Jojo, watching as the brunette touched his own skin as if to make sure he was still alive. He watched Joseph's smile widen and then listened to his screaming and laughter of victory.
"Not even Kars could beat me! I'm amazing!!" He shouted, his fist in the air. Ceasar smiled to himself and closed his eyes as he listened to his words.
"Ceasar would be so proud of me!" Jojo cried and hollered again, before taking a deep breath and sitting back down on the rock, looking back up into the sky as if he was searching for something. Ceasar placed a hand on his back, his fingers began to press right through his solid back. He sighed to himself, not being able to feel the warmth of his friend. He tucked next to Joseph until he knew that he'd be safe, a moment of relief when a fishing boat sailed their way. Ceasar watched as JoJo hoped onto the boat, before he let himself disappear back into nothingness until Joseph would need him again. That's what a guardian angel does, right?
