There was t-minus one hour until we had to leave for the party; it had started an hour ago but we were going to arrive fashionably late. The guys were already dressed, hanging out downstairs, while Mack and I put the finishing touches on our costumes. Mack had gone all out with the Surfer Barbie costume and bought a blue penny board to replace the surfboard that would be too big to bring to the party. I was pretty proud of the idea I had come up with, but even more with the way she executed it.

Meanwhile, my costume was on the complete opposite end of her's. I had originally felt a little reserved about going in such a fancy dress, and that reservation was starting to grow into regret. I hated the feeling of being overdressed, especially when I was wearing a floor length gown. It seemed like I was going to prom, not a Halloween party.

"I think I'm going to change. This is too much," I mumbled, grasping the baby pink tulle under my fingers. The tulle was attached to a velvet green bodice that had pink and white flowers embroidered on the straps, neck line, and waist line. The dress was stunning, no doubt, but too much for a party where 90% of the people there were going to be drunk.

"No way!" Mack protested, joining my side. She had a cup in her hand and from the fruity smell it was giving off, I was pretty sure it was one of the wine coolers my mother kept stocked in the fridge. "You look just like I imagine would. There's no way you're changing."

I sighed, grabbing the drink from her hand and downing the little that was left in the bottle. Strawberry warmed the back of my throat, adding to the pink hue that was already on my cheeks. Neither one of us was the designated driver tonight, thanks to Tyler who drew the short stick earlier, so I was all for downing a few before we got to the festivities.

"Maybe I should bring a change of clothes just in case," I mumbled.

She groaned in frustration, throwing back her head as she shook me by the shoulders. "Listen to me, Daisy. You look hot, there is no need for you to change. The only person who should be taking that dress off of you is Toby at the end of the night."

Rolling my eyes, I shoved her away so that I could finish getting ready. She had brought up a touchy topic without even knowing it, so I couldn't blame her. Toby and I hadn't had sex yet, even though we had been dating for a little over a month. We had attempted other things but we never seemed to get further than making out. I wasn't sure what was holding me back, but all I knew was that Toby was a great guy for not pushing me.

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I was secretly obsessed with my math tutor.

But I tried not to think about that too much.

The last thing for me to do before we left was to pin down my flower crown. When we were sure that it was secure enough with a million bobby pins, we headed down stairs to meet up with the rest of the guys. They were in the kitchen, chowing down on the pizza Mac had ordered while we were getting ready.
