"I need to get a less annoying alarm clock," I mumbled as I hit the off button on the screaming machine. I had half a mind to chuck it out of my room, knowing if I put a little arm into it I could toss it into the backyard through my open patio doors. But instead of murdering my alarm clock, I rolled out of bed and mentally prepared myself to get ready for the day. As I rubbed the sleep crusties out of my eyes, I ran through what this Monday was going to be like in my head while I tried not to be sad that the weekend had passed so quickly. Hopefully this school day wouldn't be too drab and dreary , especially since it was clouding up outside and rain in California brought out the crazy driver in people.

After taking a quick peek at the dark clouds that filled up the sky and blocked out the sun, I made my way to the bathroom for a quick shower. I turned on the faucet to let the cold water heat up while I searched my closet for what I was going to wear. My eyes scanned through my clothes before I finally decided on a white Levi's t shirt and ripped skinny jeans. I had originally planned on wearing a cut tank and skirt but decided against it when I heard the 40% chance of rain in the forecast as told to me by Siri.

I placed my chosen outfit neatly folded on my messy bed before hopping into my scalding hot shower. I took my sweet time washing my body and shaving my legs and under my arms, singing a Jonas Brothers song under my breath. Once I had washed away all of the suds and shaving cream, I wrapped myself in a fluffy towel and headed over to my bed to dry myself off and get clothed.

About twenty minutes later, I was all done up and ready to go save for my hair. I had been too lazy to braid it on my own so I left it like it was for Mack to do it when we got to the school. So I shot her a text telling her to meet me by my car and not my locker this morning. For the time being, I just stuck on a white Nike hat to cover up my messy, damp hair. With a thin bagel with cream cheese and a hot cup of coffee in my favorite starbucks to-go mug in hand, I quickly made it out the door to my car before I ended up being late.

"What took you so long?" Mack groaned as she got into my car. I rolled my eyes - I was ten minutes early - and handed her half of my bagel.

"Payment for braiding my hair," I mumbled as I twisted in my seat so that she could get to work. She took a quick bite out of her bagel half before getting knuckle deep in my tangled mess. I was glad that I had remembered to throw a brush in my bag before I had left, because it made Mack's job a lot easier. Ten minutes later I was looking good, though my scalp was slightly throbbing, with two dutch braids that became pony tails towards the end.

"You look like some hot shit," Mack complimented as we walked towards the building. I heard running footsteps and turned to see that Tyler and Asher were running to catch up with us. Though I stopped and waited until they were beside us, I wondered why they thought it was necessary to run when their cars were only a few feet away.

"You're looking like some hot shit, Red. I'm digging the hair," Asher commented, bumping shoulders with me. He shot a smile over to Mack, silently acknowledging that he was mocking her choice of words, even though he genuinely meant the compliment. A narrowing of her green-blue eyes showed that she thought he was just "so funny" for copying her words.

I rolled my eyes but laughed at the two of them, "You guys are too much."

"ANYWAYS, I was wondering what exactly Mack had planned for this weekend?" Tyler asked as we began the trek to our classes.

This weekend was Mack's 18th birthday, a little bit of a bummer that it always fell on the second week of school but she tried not to mind it too much. What she didn't know was that we were going to surprise her on Friday during math class, the only class all four of us had together. I was going to make cupcakes and sneak in the food and decorations and Asher was going to go out and buy her presents from the three of us from the list that we had given him. Tyler's job was to keep her as far from the classroom as I could while they set everything up. The only thing we weren't sure about was if Mr. West was going to allow us to do it or not, but I doubted he would say no. But if we were going to be able to do this, it wasn't going to be easy to keep it a secret from her considering she was a massive snoop
