After the battle of Starcourt Mall

Eleven sank to the ground as she looked into Joyce's lost and sad eyes. She screamed at the top of her lungs feeling empty. The only loving father figure she knew was now gone and nothing could change that. She could slightly make out Joyce running over to her and she soon felt the warm figure of Joyce Byers trying to calm her down.

"W - what happened... h how did it happen?" Eleven asked crying hysterically.

Joyce was about to speak when she heard Mike yell out to Eleven.

"El, El are you okay? Shhh I'm here" Mike soothed El holding her hand. Joyce let go of El and Mike held her tightly as if he were never going to let go.

" H - Hopper, he ... he's gone... he's gone Mike" El whimpered holding Mike tighter and sobbing into his shoulder. Mike couldn't believe it, El had been through so much and now she had lost the one person who saved her and took her in as his own. He held her in his weakened body and brushed her hair with his fingers. Mike was regretting all the times he had been a smart ass to hopper and all the times he was rude and horrible to him. Mike knew that he had to protect El from this hurt and pain and Mike couldn't care less about what anyone else though because El needed him.

After and hour of Mike supporting El on the ground Mike lifted El up and they went to get her checked out. She held Mikes hand and she layed on the stretcher bed nervously as a few paramedics ran some tests on her. The paramedics poking and prodding her reminded her of the bad men and papa and she kept asking questions to the paramedics to know what they were doing to her.

"What is that" El gulped looking up and a long and spiky object that one of the medics were holding.
"This is a needle that we are going to stick into your leg to make you not feel any pain, it might sting a little but after that we can treat your leg properly and you won't feel a thing" the female paramedic spoke and touched her cheek.

Mike squeezed El's hand as the lady lowered the needle and poked it into her leg. El could feel a sharp stinging pain and she scrunched up her face and tried to breathe deeply and stay calm. After a few seconds the pain was gone and she loosened the tight grip from Mikes hand but still held his hand.

"Ok sweetie we need to ask you a few questions so that we can keep a file on you and make sure you are doing okay. Is that okay if we do that?" Eleven looked at Mike and he nodded to her to show that this was okay.

"Yes" she spoke shakily.

The lady smiled, "So what is your name sweetie?"

"Eleven ... Jane" she paused, tears swelling in her eyes. The lady looked confused at Mike and he answered for her.

"Her name is Jane Eleven Hopper" Mike decided to call Eleven Jane for safety reasons so no bad men could get to her by her first name being Eleven.

"Okay Jane, where are your parents?" She asked sincerely. Mike could see the sadness in El's eyes and he felt so upset that this was destroying her.

"Would I be able to speak to you outside please?" Mike asked the lady and he smiled at El and walked out of the ambulance.

Mike made a cover story to the paramedics saying that her mother had died after the birth and her father had died tonight in one of the fires at Starcourt Mall. The paramedics decided to take El to the hospital to spend the night and to keep Mike over for observation as well.

After a hectic day the party and family went into the hospital to stay the night and all appreciated each other's company and remembered the people they had lost from that night.
