"Deal?"

Wirt asked confused as he held the lantern close to his face looking straight at the dark demon of the forest. He shudders slightly from the large white glowing eyes.

The Beast takes a step forward his head cocking to the side, he then speaks lowly his hand reaching to the young boy "I can put his spirit in the lantern. As long as the flame stays lit, he will live on inside." He watches as Wirt turns to look at his weak younger brother, watches how the eldest child face worsen with fear, and with that he could hear the child heart beat beginning to quicken with each second.

But now, because of the sight of the concern brother he felt something squeeze his heart. He ignores it for now and continues

" Take on the task of Lantern barrier or watch your brother perish."

Wirt stares at the large creature, to then look down now thinking of the deal. The Beast stares at the child

"Come here" he commands.

Wirt sighs what sounds like defeat

"Ok"

Wirt ignores the gasp of Beatrice and her surprised call. Once close by the demon, he places the lantern down but then a thought quickly comes to his mind, hitting him like a brick.

"Wait...." he quickly take a step back before grabbing the lantern once more.

"That's dumb." He continues, while then The Beast felt the sudden urge to growl.

"What?" He bitterly asked

"That's dumb" he repeats "I'm not just gonna wander around the woods for the rest of my life." He felt himself slightly relax but hesitates seeing the demon twitch by his words.

"I am trying to help you..." he replies his voice changing, hearing how it got deeper and demonic. Wirt ignores it and continues.

"You're not trying to help me, Y-you just have some weird obsessions with keeping this lantern lit up. Its almost like your soul was in this lantern."

The Beast body began to violently move, his head twisting and his body having spasm attacks, roaring and snarling at the child conclusion that is actually true. Darkness quickly consumes the whole area, Beatrice was gone, The Woodsman's body wasn't there near The Beast, nor Greg was near, only Wirt and The Beast were left alone.

"Are you ready to see true darkness?"

Wirt did not make any sudden moves, his eyes trance fixed to the angry demon above, now feeling his body go cold and his whole face in horror, fearing what will happen to him. He feared death honestly, but he feared more for his brothers well being. His heart begins to beat rapidly, more than before.

"What about another deal then, since you find the first one 'dumb'." The Beast said as then the darkness around them fades returning to the snowy wonderland. Wirt shakily drops the lantern onto the soft snow and stares at The Beast.

The Beast pauses looking at Wirt silently, studying him. "Stay here with me...." he starts off.

Now Wirt was confused "What?"

The Beast looks down at the lantern then back at Wirt "Your brother will not be harmed, nor you.... if...you stay with me." The Beast says gently, his voice returning to normal but still held the the fearful tone. Wirt thinks for a short moment 'That deal isn't that bad...bu-" he pauses to look at Greg. He felt his heart sting painfully, his stomach turning into a knot and his palms shaking, he felt himself wanting to cry at the sight. Greg, his young innocent brother, seeing his little body looking so tired and worn out, looking as if he didn't even have enough energy to lift a finger. It was so unnatural seeing him like this. He honestly enjoyed how much his brother was so happy, so active and always positive and imaginative, always optimistic even in the worst situations. But now he just looks like a beaten up rag doll. He wanted to go hug his brother and ignore the demon. Help him and restore his health. So without thinking further he looks back at The Beast.

"Ok...."

Beatrice gasped and flew to Wirt's face

" Wirt are you crazy!?" She exclaimed, her voice mixed with anger by his decision. "You just can't go off with him! He's the bad guy! He's go-"

" Beatrice..." she stops talking once hearing the boys voice. Wirt slowly glances down at his pocket to then pull out a beautiful golden scissors, one of the handles shaped like a bird. Beatrice gasped seeing the object

"You had it this whole time?!" Wirt nods at the bird.

"Right when we were at Elijah, I grabbed them before I ran off with Greg... I was still angry at you. But now...." he said smiling sheepishly feeling himself grow slightly depressed that the fact he might not ever see the blue bird ever again. "I'm going to miss you..." he felt a small fresh tear running down his cheek. Beatrice continues to stare, Wirt hands them to her seeing her claws grabbing them. She doesn't fly off though, she stays on his palm and felt her own tears weld up.

"Please don't go with him...please." she begs "We'll find another way. W-we-" she stops after the boy shake his head.

"If this is the only way to keep Greg alive then that's it..."

"Come on." The Beast interrupts their conversation.

Wirt looks at The Beast to then look at Greg's body that was still wrapped around the branches

"What about Greg?" He asked his voice coated with fear and worrisome. The Beast simply says

"He will be fine."

Wirt pauses but then lets his hand fall, seeing now Beatrice flying with the golden scissors. She wanted to fight him honestly, she wanted to yell at him and say how stupid can he be, tell him this is the most stupidest thing he has ever done, heck maybe even claw his hair out till he was bald but all she could do is stare. She watches The Beast lay a hand on Wirts back beckoning him into the dark forest.

"Come on, My child..." was the last thing Beatrice heard from The Beast as the two vanished into the forest. It was all quiet now, the only sound was the snow blowing through the cold fresh air. She looks at Greg and his frog.

" We need to get you out of their and into shelter...fast." she says as she places the scissors next to the forgotten lantern and begins to peck her way onto the large branch, ripping the branches successfully.

"We are going to get your brother back."
