6 Managed1990 August
The year went by swiftly, suddenly summer took Hogwarts with storm and not a day without the sun peaking through the clouds. George, Fred and Elena had grown notorious on the school grounds, having no fear of getting caught and never was. They had their ways finding the escape routes, hiding away from Filch and his loyal cat.
Never once did they target Cedric; Elena blamed it on the large selection of other students, but George and Fred knew better. "I'll be honest, Elena-" Fred, the twin she gotten most close to, whispered in her ear softly. "- I think you have a little crush on Diggory." She shoved him away, playfully of course, laughing her head off. Perhaps she had forgotten the other days when she longed for him, or she just pushed it away.
Elena calmed her bubbling laugh before she successfully impersonated Fred. "I'll be honest Fred, you must have hit your head on the way here." George glanced over her head, meeting his brother's gleeful eyes and smiled softly. The notorious twins knew exactly what the other was thinking, it certainly was a superpower.
What they didn't know were the ears catching their every word. George, Fred and Elena kept joking around, laughing as usual and enjoying the sunshine kiss their skin. "Whatever, Ced." Luke flickered his eyes back and forth from the backs of three jolly pranksters and his gloomy best friend. "It's nothing." Cedric hung his head low, keeping his eyes on the black ink and carefully wrote the next letter.
"She isn't worth it, honestly." Cedric knew that Luke said a lot of things but this time he was serious, not a humorous voice nor a ghost of smile. Somewhere, deep inside he knew it was pointless, he had already sunk too far, there was no retreat anymore. Whatever Luke said next, Cedric couldn't bear to listen. She was worth it, his heart sung in his ears.
She most certainly was worth it, even if it would rip him into pieces. Once he saw her, that day in the library, she hadn't left his thought even in his dreams. It was the voice of Fred that attracted Cedric's attention, they (Fred, George and Elena) were sitting not far from them on the green grass. "Oi! Quidditch training." Fred rose from the warm grass and the red haired, lean, tall George followed in a tow. "See ya, Elena." They bid goodbyes, leaving Elena left behind - alone.
Luke watched curiously when Cedric clumsily stood up, shaking his head disapprovingly. "I should - yeah I should." Cedric had no idea what he was doing - he just needed to walk normally towards Elena. "Yeah, I'll leave you two alone." Luke sniggered, shook his head, and watched as Cedric nervously nodded.
"Hello." Cedric sheepishly said, afraid she would run away. "Hi." She smiled breathtakingly back, not afraid to show her adorable dimples. "Did you watch the game?" He was curious, since he hadn't seen her face anywhere, and his heart skipped a beat when her sparkling eyes caught his. Whatever came next Cedric had too much hope, he had felt proud of himself when he caught the snitch because she was there.
A breeze rolled over their backs, playing with her messy hair. "Cedric, I'm sorry." His heart plummeted to the bottom of his body and it nearly showed on his pretty face. "But next time, I promise to watch it." She stretched out her pinky, and he frowned at her softly. Laughter escaped her lips and softly she picked his hand up, raised his pinky carefully and made a pinky promise.
Henceforward they were officially friends.
