Alfie's POV

Our kiss was cut short when my phone started vibrating violently on the coffee table. At first I ignored it, but when it wouldn't stop I went to pick up the call with a sigh.

"Alfie I'm calling from my friend's phone meet me down at the police station right now."

It was my mum.

"Why mum, what's happened?"

"Just come down now. It's on Church Street incase you were wonder-"

"MUM."

"Alfie, seriously it's an emergency."

"Fine, I'll be there in 5." I must admit, I was a little scared when my mum said it was an emergency. I put the phone down as the battery died.
"What was it?" asked Zoe, who looked somewhat concerned.
"My mum wants me to go to the police station urgently. Except I don't know where it is and my phones just gone."
"I'll give you a lift if you like. Wilf lives down there so I used to pass it almost everyday. Church Street, right?"
"Yup. I mean, if that's okay with you then a lift'd be great."
"It's a two minute drive. And going anywhere with you is fine. The car's around the back."

This made me smile.

Zoe's car was a blue mini. When I opened the door a fresh scent flew up my nostrils. I immediately sat down and fastened my seatbelt, in order to not keep Zoe waiting.
"Got everything?" she questioned.
"Think so," I replied. Although I sort of hoped I didn't so I had an excuse to go round again.

Zoe's driving was smooth and calm and gentle. We bared onto a busy-ish road that connected Zoe's street and Church Street together. Several roads branched out of it, so I looked out of my window to see if I could see Church Street. I felt a little sick because I didn't know why my mum wanted me at a police station. Suddenly, a screech of police sirens filled my head as I saw the reflection of the lights flashing in the shop windows of an upcoming street. Zoe slowed down to let it exit. Neither of us noticed the speeding van it was following. Zoe didn't have chance to swerve away.

Then all I heard was a thud and a crash and a lot of screeching breaks. My head went all misty and my eyes fuzzed to black.

I woke up to hear nothing but beeps.
