Zoe's POV
My eyes shot open and I woke up with a jolt, almost forgetting about what'd happened the previous day. I was surrounded by flashing lights and I lay on a white bed. A small woman leaned over me examining me, whilst talking to a man who I couldn't see behind all the machinery:
"Yep, I think we can give her the all clear," I heard a chirpy voice say from beside me.
"Alright, d'ya want me to get her parents in?" said the man, who wandered out scratching his silver beard.
"Yep, just family though," replied the woman, who I assumed was a nurse. The man strolled of towards the waiting room, and came back with my dad and my brother tagging along behind him.
"Zoe...what happened?" asked my dad.
"Well I was driving Alfie to..."
"Woah woah woah, who's this Alfie?" questioned my dad. He then looked at the nurse to say she didn't have to stand there.
"Uhm...Alfie Deyes. He's a YouTuber too. He nipped round for...uhm...his coat."
"They're basically going out," Joe said with a smirk, "they kissed and it's all over Twitter. So I looked into it, on the way to hospital, and she was dumped by Wilf because..."
"Okay Joe I think that's enough." My dad knew I was a little embarrassed. On the thought of Alfie, my heart began to pound. Was he okay?
The nurse came over to butt into my fear, "if you feel okay, you're good to go." I sat up in my bed and began to get up.
"Excuse me," I grabbed the attention of the nurse, "but do you know where Alfie Deyes is? He was with me in the crash..."
"Oh...Alfie. He's currently undergoing an operation. You were both very lucky to get out alive, but Alfie's leg got crushed when the van hit. Don't worry, it's not extremely serious, they're putting these metal poles into his leg to strengthen it and so it heals right. I don't know exactly, but he should be out by Wednesday. An unlucky event just before Christmas. I can call you when he can be visited, if you want."
"Please do. He'll definitely be okay, right?"
"Of course he will." Nevertheless, I could see a slither of doubt behind her smile. We walked out the doors in silence. I could not stop worrying about Alfie, but in the back of my mind I knew my dad was a big fan of Wilf, and was probably annoyed at me, even though it was Wilf who dumped me. My dad's car was surprisingly close to the entrance.
"Hop in Zoe. You can stay around mine for a few days. You can't drive anywhere anyway, your cars trash."
"But there's a bus," I said.
"I never get to see you Zoe. And I'm sort of curious about this Alfie dude," my dad argued. But nicely. He argued nicely.
"Oh alright then." I always gave into my dads arguments.
"Dad I'm not staying I've got videos to film," said Joe.
"Joesph I don't want you round anyway, I'll end up with cling film over the bloody toilet seat."
I could see Joe smiling at himself.
