Zoe's POV

"Alfie where is that picture from?!" I asked, alarmed and confused. From his mum's phone, Alfie had sent a picture of someone who was obviously Wilf.
"My mum said he was trying to steal the TV." But Wilf wasn't like that, was he? I wanted to get to the bottom of this. "My mum also said he'd been in trouble before. He's locked up now, anyway."
"But it just doesn't make any sense. Wilf would never do anything like that, and he definitely wouldn't have done anything before."
"Well how much did you know about him exactly?"
"Um...well...look Alfie, I'll try and persuade my dad to let me go home. Pretty sure he's annoyed with me for some odd reason anyway; he's a little quiet. I'll text you if when I'm home."
"Ok. See you soon then."
"Bye." I noticed it was already seven when I put the phone down, just as my battery ticked down to 7%.

Coincidence? I think not.

I strolled downstairs to see my dad plating a roast dinner.
"Hi Zo."
"Hey. I just realised I have an...um...dentist appointment tomorrow morning and I'll never get there in time if I stay overnight. So can I leave after tea-"
"Are you sure it's the dentist? Because I'm pretty sure you went for a checkup last month and your teeth were perfect?"
"I'm pretty certain..."
"Okay then. Wait, it's nothing to do with this Alfie is it? Because I heard you definitely phoning someone upstairs."
"I just want to make sure he's okay-"
"Ahh I knew it, young love, isn't it one of the sweetest things? I better not get in the way of such a powerful force-"
"Dad!"
"Sorry Zo, got a bit carried away there." He placed the food on the table with a smile and a wink. I rolled my eyes at him and sat down to eat without hesitation. Nothing could beat the aroma (and taste!) of my dad's roast dinners.

I got into the car realising I forgot to vlog. Oh well, I thought. On that note, I checked my bag for my camera, which thankfully was there. My dad climbed in a few seconds later.
"I'll drive dad," I offered.
"Nope you're alright. Look at the beautiful view instead," my dad joked. I mean I'm sure the view would be lovely if it wasn't for it being pitch black outside and rivulets of rain trickling down the window. I soon began to shiver so I turned the heating on full blast.

The traffic was relatively good so I got home not too late. It was a bit sleety but overall the weather was okay. I soaked in the warmth when I got inside, and changed straight into my pjs. Tomorrow I'd see Alfie, I'd make sure of it. Then I remembered I promised to text him as soon as I got in.

Hiya Alf (I could call him that, right?),
I'm home safe and sound. Fancy meeting tomorrow? x

I'd barely sent the text when he replied:

My flat, midday. I'll be expecting you :) xx
