Zoe's POV
I decided to text Alfie. Not for any particular reason, just to see how he was doing and if he was okay. I began to write the message.
Hi
I thought that sounded a bit too awkward, so I replaced the text.
Fancy coming over?
I mean he also lives in Brighton, so it wouldn't be too much trouble. Also, it'd be easier to talk things out I guess. My thumb hovered over 'send' for a split second, I mean things weren't exactly perfect between us right now. But a second later it'd gone and that was that.
Alfie's POV
I picked up my phone to see that it was a message from Zoe.
Fancy coming over?
I really wanted to see her, but the events that happened last time and the camera in front of me was making me reconsider.
Finally, I decided I'd go, so I took to Twitter first:
Video might be a day late this week...sorry!
Then I told Zoe I'd go:
Yep, I'll be round in 10
So I slipped on some trainers and strolled over to Zoe's flat (Marcus had told me which one it was the other day).
Zoe's POV
As soon as I got the text that confirmed Alfie was coming over, I tided my flat in a hurry. I wanted it to be tidy, but I didn't want it to look as if I had made an effort. And should I leave out any snacks? I opened my fridge for inspiration, then going through my cupboards, but I only had stuff that had to be cooked.
I was rearranging the cushions when I heard the bell. I couldn't help smiling when I knew it was going to be Alfie. I buzzed him in, but when the door opened, instead of Alfie was a smiling guy with an impressive bouquet of roses hidden behind his back.
Wilf.
"Surprise!!!" I had to fake smile as he handed me the flowers.
"I haven't seen you in a while, so I just wanted to give you a reminder that I still love you," he added.
I couldn't work out wether he knew about zalfie or not.
"Anyways, I've got to rush off, see ya."
"Bye," I said.
Less than a second after I saw Wilf walk towards the end of the road, the bell rang again, but this time it was Alfie. I prayed he hadn't seen Wilf come out.
"Hey," I murmured, under a blanket of guilt.
"Um hi," said Alfie, "what's with the flowers?"
I hadn't had time to hide the flowers, or even take them out my hand. But I definitely couldn't tell Alfie about Wilf. Definitely not.
"Uhm, these are...these are for you," I said without even thinking.
I handed him the flowers wanting to cry.
