Central Park

After around 50 minutes of riding the subway, I arrived at the nearest station to the Bow Bridge and I walked around for 30 minutes and finally arrived at the Bow Bridge. Peter hasn't arrived yet so I decided to walk along the bridge while I wait.

I've always seen pictures of the bridge online and now seeing it in real life, it's so amazing.

The bridge crossing over the lake as the bright orange autumn leaves fall ever so lightly on the pathway. It seems like something from a fantasy movie.

"Wow. So pretty."

A couple was walking towards my direction and they were taking photos of themselves, having the best time. Giggling and laughing.

I smiled, so cute.

Then once we were about to pass each other the boyfriend came up to me, "Hello Miss, sorry to bother you but do you mind taking a photo of my girlfriend and I?" he asked.

"Yes sure, no problem at all." I replied.

"Thank you." He answered and pulled out his phone.

I took the phone, "Alright, 3..2..1.. smile!" and took a photo.

"I'll take another one... 3...2...1!" I took a few, while the couple changed poses, admiring each other.

"Here you go." I said, giving the phone back.

"Thank you so much miss." The girlfriend thanked.

"No problem! Have a good afternoon!" I smiled.

"You too." She reasoned and the two started to walk the other direction.

I put my hands on the rail, cherishing the view. I'm just so happy that I'm living in New York now and that I don't have to move for at least a year.

"Y/N, hey." A voice spoke from my right.

I turned and saw Peter there with his hands in his pockets.

I smiled, "Hey."

"Sorry to keep you waiting." he apologised.

I chuckled, "No, it's fine. I just arrived too."

He sighed a breath of relief, "Ah okay. Well... Should we-uh get going? Before the sun sets..."

"Sure."

"I know that there's a place called the Ramble, pretty close to this lake and there are many trees there..." Peter said while holding up a map of the park.

"Wow. You printed out a map?" I asked, impressed.

"Uh-well, yeah cause I want to try my best to win the top sp-spot for Bio." He chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck.

I grinned, "Yep. Let's try our best."

I took the map and saw that the Ramble wasn't to far from the Bow Bridge.

After around 5 minutes of walking, we arrived at the Ramble. Already there was a lot of trees, soaring up to the sky. The leaves were so spread out over pathway that you cannot see even a glimpse of ground. They were shades reds, yellow and oranges. Just walking down, reminded me of paintings that you would see at your local gallery.

"So each of the trees have the names of them so we could I guess just collect a leaf from each tree." I suggested. Peter nodded and we approached the tree that was to our left.

The sign read 'Red Oak.'

"Okay this is Red Oak. I will take a photo of this so I can remember this." I said.

"Okay." Peter replied as he took a leaf from the ground and put it in a plastic bag.

After that we went around the park, trying to find different trees because most of the same species were planted together. We went to around 5 more different trees and they were Black Cherry, Tupelo, Sassafras, Pin Oak and Red Maple.

"There." I said as I placed the Red Maple leaf into the bag. The sun was slowly setting and the sky was getting darker, I looked at my watch and it was 6:35 PM.

"The sun setting." Peter pointed out.

"Yeah." I agreed. "Let's just do one more leaf and tomorrow we can do the rest..."

"Sure." He responded as he went ahead of me.

He then disappeared far away, Why is he so fast?

"Peter?" I called out, slightly scared as it getting darker and there was no one around.

"Peter?" I called again. I started walking quickly.

After around 2 minutes later, Peter's voice called out from far away, "It's Sweet Gum!"

"What?!" I shouted back.

"I found another leaf! It's called Sweet Gum!" He responded.

"Peter! I-I don't kn-know where you are!" I loudly replied.

"Don't come, no need to come. You can stay where you are. I wi-will come to you." His voice called out but it came closer and closer and soon I saw Peter next to a huge tree but it was barricaded, meaning that we cannot get the leaves of that tree.

"Oh you came." Peter said, a bit puffed.

"Yeah. I did. I thought you left me for a second." I responded, slightly annoyed.

"Oh sorry."

"Come on, let's find another tree. We can't get the leaf from this tree because its blocked out. The fence is too high up. We can't climb that." I responded.

Peter's face formed a slight smile, with his hands behind his back.

I raised my eyebrows, "What?"

He opened up his hand, revealing the Sweet Gum leaf.

I looked at him, "How did you get that?" I paused. "You did not climb over the fence did you?"

His smile faded, "Uh-I- of co-course not!"

I chuckled and patted him on shoulder, "I'm joking. I know you probably found the leaf on the ground. No one can climb the fence that high."

He laughed nervously. "Ahaha yeah."

"Alright, well it's getting late, I'll see you tomorrow but meet in front of the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain at 6:35 PM because I'm meeting my friends there for the festival." I said while looking at map for the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain.

"Okay yeah, Ned's coming tomorrow as well because they need to collect their leaves too." Peter responded.

"Cool, well I'll see you at school tomorrow." I waved and turned around.

"Bye."

I realised I was holding Peter's map, I turned around to give it to him.

"Peter you forgot—"

But he wasn't there, he disappeared again.

"How fast does this kid walk?" I mumbled and pulled out my phone to call him, "Oh well, I'll just give it to him at school tomorrow."

Instead of calling Peter, I called Mom.

"Hey Mom, could you pick me up? I'm near the Bow Bridge."

"Yep, I'll be there in 5 because I just decided to go there before you call since it's dangerous for young ladies like you."

I smiled, "Thanks mom. See you."

"Bye love."
