"Call it. Time of death; ‪2:15AM‬."

"How are we feeling today, Dr. Chang?" The nurse smiled brightly as she walked in putting on gloves.

Marceline Anne Chang turned her head. "We're not French."

"I happen to be...-" She faltered as Marceline Anne gave her a look. "Not French at all."

"That's okay." Marceline Anne let her off the hook. "The French are weird."

"Somehow I'm still offended." She checked Marceline Anne's vitals. "Are you ready?"

"Yeah." Marceline Anne looked away.

"On the count of three. One, two, three." She slid the needle in.

Marceline Anne winced but kept still.

"I'll bring you more saline." She continued about her duties until she went to the board to write down Marceline Anne's stats. "Do not forget to eat today. If you don't, Dr. Shaffer won't let you go home tomorrow."

Marceline Anne scowled at her back but she did want to go home the next day. She'd wanted to go home since she died...

"Call it. Time of death; ‪2:15AM‬."

The nurses hung their heads at the death of the newly turned 16 year old. They made the call down to the morgue as they covered her up.

The doctor threw away his bloody garb and went to walk out with a heavy heart but the last machine to be unplugged was the heart monitor and it slowly started beeping again.

Everyone looked up and at the still body on the cold metal slate. She wasn't moving but her heartrate was real. It was thready but real.

The doctor hurried to get back to her. This was a miracle and he was not about to squander it.

The four in the upright position did everything in their power to save this young girl's life and in the end she was in a coma.

Her tumor was removed, her infected pieces of organs were removed but she'd lost a lot of blood and was in danger of having a heart-attack before she ever woke up.

It was in her chart that she didn't want human blood so she was given iron but it was still very risky and they weren't sure it would work.

Three days later, she woke up.

Marceline Anne reached for the phone to call down to the cafeteria for lunch. She didn't want much; she'd just throw it up anyway but she did have a taste for fruit.

She ordered juice and all the fruit they had on the menu that wasn't strawberries, cherries or bananas.

They asked her if she wanted her next dosage of meal replacement and she accepted. She hung up and set aside the phone before picking up her cell phone. She began playing music and sat back to wait.

Malcolm knocked on the door before him before coming in anyway. He came in with a bunch of flowers and shut the door behind himself. "Hello, Mrs. Gladstone."

"Hello, Malcolm." The old woman creaked out.

He went to give her a red rose. "I hope you're doing better."

"I am. Your lovely wife sang to me while I got my next dose."

"Good. I'll talk to you before I leave."
