Malcolm the First rubbed his damp palms over his thighs, obviously nervous. He'd lied to his wife about where he was, telling her he was doing work for his father during his lunch break. She didn't seem to believe him at first but maybe that was his guilt talking? He'd never lied to her before. He had to tell Meagan he was married and quickly.

Speaking of the blonde, she was walking over now. The host sat her as Malcolm stood. When the man left, he sat. Meagan smiled.

Malcolm smiled back, freaked out. "Hello. How are you?"

"I'm fine. Relax. You look so nervous."

He was nervous! He blew out a breath. "How have you been?"

"I'd have been better if you'd called." She pouted.

"I'm sorry." He found himself slipping back into old habits.

She smiled again. The waitress came over and she rejoiced in the fact that Malcolm's gaze never left hers. "We'll just have diet Coke."

The waitress found her utter dismissal rude but was used to it.

"Please and thank you." Malcolm found his tongue as he looked up at the woman.

The waitress was mollified and left.

Meagan rolled her eyes.

Malcolm was resigned to the fact that Meagan didn't care about anyone but herself. He didn't even like Coke, diet or otherwise. And he was starving. It was his lunch break after all. Some things never change.

His wife's words of Seasons change, people don't rang in his head and he smiled.

Meagan frowned. He seemed happy and she hadn't done anything yet. What was he thinking about? She stretched out her hands to capture his fingers. "What are you thinking about?"

He snapped out of it, having always hated that question. It was always a trick and he never answered to her satisfaction. But maybe now was the time to tell her he was married? "You said you had news?"

Or not...

She smiled and batted her false eyelashes. He'd never noticed how much makeup she wore before. "I do. We've moved back. I would have been able to tell you before but you ghosted me."

His jaw dropped. He didn't even mean for it to happen but he could see his wife spazzing out on him. "I'm married."

"What?" She was confused and unclear on if she heard him right.

"I'm married." He repeated.

"What?!" She heard him that time.

A few people looked over and he blushed. "I'm married."

"To who?! You're sixteen!"

"I've been married for over a year. Can you please keep your voice down?" He hated when she made scenes.

"We've only been broken up for a year!"

"No, you dumped me nearly two years ago." He tried to hold onto his temper.

She saw he was getting mad so she started crying. "You're married and you've been seeing me this whole time?!"

A lot of people heard that. He burned. "I was trying to tell you-"

"What does she even look like?!"

"Why does that matter?"

"She can't be prettier than me! So you settled for some ugly girl who probably wears glasses and has braces?!"
