Marceline Anne stopped in front of the in-patient care entrance. "This wasn't awful."

"I've learned a lot about you." Blackwood unbuckled his seatbelt.

"You really didn't." She yawned.

"Are you tired? You could sleep in my office."

She smirked. "You think you slick."

He blushed.

"Get out so I can go home and crawl under the bed."

"Alright. Can I kiss you now?"

"Didn't I say get out my car?"

"You're going to stop being mean to me."

"We'll see."

He smirked before getting out and shutting the door.

She drove off and headed towards home, praying that she didn't fall asleep at the wheel. Coffee made her sleepy but alcohol could go either way. And she'd had both.

She stopped at a grocer to get a large bag of crisps because she suddenly had a craving for something salty so she got it and went on home.

She parked in the garage, knowing everyone else would be at church so she could go in and go straight to sleep. She grabbed all her things and went inside to unzip her boots and fling them elsewhere.

She went to the office to put away work then the kitchen for her meal items. She yawned as she took her purse and the bag of Ruffles upstairs to the nursery. She wanted to see if she could step foot inside if the kids were gone but she was even too scared to do that so she went passed the closed door with her head lowered in shame.

She went to the master suite and set the bag of chips on the table and went to take a quick shower. She went to pee then pulled on a light nightdress before grabbing her snack and going to the bed.

She was shocked to see Malcolm on the bed, playing on a Switch.

He sat up from his reclined position. "Hey."

"Hello." Was she still angry with him? She'd proved her point, hadn't she? Then again he had no idea about her and Blackwood.

Except he did. The whole hospital had been talking about their dinner then them leaving at nine to return an hour later. He'd had massive amounts of texts from co-workers who wanted details.

She climbed in bed and set her phone on the charger. She'd charged it in the car but it wasn't enough. She climbed beneath the sheets and turned on her side- away from him.

He was so hurt and angry. She was cheating on him. Was that what she meant yesterday? That wasn't fair. He didn't even know what she wanted from him but now he wasn't even sure she wanted him. "Goodnight."

Her heart melted. So he wouldn't sleep with her. He was such a good man. Couldn't she live without sex? A lot of women did. She could try. "Goodnight."

He was surprised when she turned over and smiled at him before closing her eyes. Pretty soon she was asleep. He couldn't figure her out for nothing in the world. But he loved her too much to give up on them.

Blackwood was just going to have to go away.

Malcolm went to check on the twins, who he'd kept at home so Marionette could go to church in peace. In fact, he hadn't been to church since the day before they were born.

He was just so busy but also he was confused and angry. Why did he have to go through all this? Why did his family? He knew it wasn't the Creator's fault but it still felt massively unfair.
