"Alright Geralt, ask away." Geralt nodded and watched as she sat on the bed, her legs crossed and her hands folded under her chin as she patiently waited, yet he could see she was tense. He raised an eyebrow before nodding towards her. "May I sit? This could take a while."
A single eyebrow raised before she moved over and re-adjusted herself. "By all means Geralt, sit." He simply nodded before he also removed his swords and placed them next to hers, and then sat across from her, his legs also crossed.
"Alright first question." Selene simply nodded at him to proceed. "How did you become a Witcher?" Selene raised an eyebrow "really, that question?" He nods "you know the trials, the trial of the grasses." He sighed. "Yes I know, but it's rare..." "when girls survive."
He nodded and Selene sighed. "I was the first he tried it on." Geralt was silent as he waited on her to continue. "At first it was a burning sensation, like I was on fire from the inside, then it started going numb." She was silent for a few minutes before she spoke again.
"I only screamed at least twice, once when the burn started and then when the final one was administered. I had managed to live through the first phase, which as you know opened my body up to possible changes." She sighed softly.
"It was only a few day's after that did they started adding the mutations, followed up by the poisons and more a lot of that for me is a blur. However I survived everything they did to me." Geralt frowned, he knew how painful those trials were, he knew how bad those poisons made one sick, he knew the damage and the risks and felt himself become angry when he realized how fast they moved with her.
"They could have killed you." She sighed. "Yes I know, I almost died during one of them." His eyes widened at this. "But I'm stubborn as fuck and refused to kneel over and die. So I fought back." He smirked, she was definitely a fighter.
"About a month later, they realized I wasn't going to just suddenly drop dead and I was ahead of most people here, so they decided that night they were going to finally 'fix' my eyes. Mutate them to prove I was a Witcher."
"That's what I don't get, your eyes aren't like ours so what happened?" Selene sighed as she shifted moving her right leg so her knee was under her chin and arms wrapped around it. "It worked, the cells instantly merged with my own and started mutating right away." He watched as a chill ran down her body.
"The lights and even the sight of them eventually became to much and i let out a scream so they covered them with bandages until the process was over, I don't remember how many times they went at my eyes. I don't even know how long it took. However I remember the day those bandages came off."
He simply nodded at her to continue. "It was a rainy spring day, and i only knew that cause I could smell the fresh air, I could hear the rain even from the room
I was confound to, I could taste the fresh mountain air on my tongue and hear the chirping of birds. The rustling of the wind through the leaves."She paused for a moment before starting again. "When those bandages came off I was blinded for all of a moment, the light to strong on my highly sensitive eyes. And that's when they screamed and feared for the worst, that they had blinded me."
"Assuming that's when Vesemir showed up." "Exactly, he Didn't very much like the idea of experimenting on a girl, but he was a bit overruled and when he saw my potential he took a strong interest in me. My well being and my training." Geralt nodded. "Vesemir to say the least was not happy when he saw my eyes, but when I threw the dagger the one man hand at a rat In the corner of the room they realized that i still had the ability of sight."
Geralt let out a breathe he wasn't he aware he had been holding. "I could still see and much better then any of them, I could see the smallest of details right down to the last mark, I could hear better, my senses much stronger. On occasion they would bleed blue for a moment but...well that's really hard to describe."
"Would you be willing to show me?" "Sure, after the story." He nodded again in agreement with her this time. "So Vesemir finally took me out of the room, took me to get my new clothes, he thought I would prefer girly versions but I shocked the fuck out of him when I chose leather black pants, simple to move in and unrestrained, boots were essential, and then I paired it all with a single black shirt lined with cotton, soft, light, breathable and most importantly it kept me warm."
Geralt chuckled but allowed her to continue. "We trained at first with just one sword, and Once I mastered that we moved onto the next, eventually during training one day, I was against a boy, I believe it was Lambert."
Geralt laughed this time which made Selene raise an eyebrow and stop talking. "No, no I'm not laughing at you. I remember that fight, he was what 5 years older then you?" She nodded. "Right, I remember him complaining and moaning, bitching about how he lost to a girl." Selene faintly smiled.
"Yeah. He tried to fight dirty, so I grabbed a second sword one that was discard, bit heavy I remember that, and I knocked him flat on his ass both swords poised to strike two vital places, one over his throat, and the other hovered over his heart. It was only when Vesemir spoke did I move and helped him stand. He stormed off after he cursed at me."
Geralt growled a bit as he wasn't aware of that small detail. "Eh, it's old news, didn't phase me. However it was also because of him that we realized my emotions weren't gone." He blinked at this news.
"During my trial for my medallion." She motioned to the one around her neck. "It was my emotions that somehow saved the idiot and myself, My fear was high and my senses on alert, however I moved a bit to late and I ended up seriously injured." Geralt frowned again.
"I simply told Lambert to go ahead, I would catch up. However I was lying and I was a damn good one too." Geralts frown deepened. "I knew I wouldn't catch up, I would Fail and have to most likely do it again. Lambert the idiot somehow figured I wasn't telling the truth because he came back and picked me up carrying me through the cave. Once outside he set me down and together we limped past the trolls and got to the circle."
Geralt however didn't speak he just listened. "That's when I realized I had been crying, not only because I passed, not because of the pain, or the fact three people died that day, but because it was my body's way of releasing the stress and pain I felt. Lambert simply hugged be and told me I would be fine, that my 'big brother' would keep me safe. After that we left and he carried me back to the school. It wasn't long after that when they started trying to experiment on other girls hoping that they would come out like I did. But that failed and each one died a very painful death."
Her breathing was shaky at this point, as if it brought back both good and bad memories. "I'm sorry. However I'm glad you survived, I'm glad you lived, and I'm
Glad lambert didn't abandon you in that cave." She gave him a weak smile this time. "I'm glad too. Now you have more questions I assume?""These two are the same how old where you when it started and ended?" She tilted her head before her brow furrowed. "I was 6 when I was brought in, 18 when I left." He nodded, that made her roughly five and a half years younger then he was.
"How did you end up in Kaer Morhen? "My mother, she simply showed up and handed to me over to Vesemir which actually upset him, and my mothers parting words to me were. 'No one will ever love you, you are unloveable, all that awaits you is an empty grave weather it's this life or the next.' And those were the words I lived by. That I still live by." She shrugged suddenly not interested in the topic.
Geralt was mad at this point, the fact that someone could one sell their child and abandon them never made sense to him, and two to tell a child she or he was unloveable was a low and pathetic blow.
"Yet I can see some changes, Lambert basically claimed you as family, and Vesemir took an interest in your upbringing." Selene simply shrugged. "I suppose, and then there's you don't forget that." He chuckled. "I know, however I have one last question." Selene shrugged and leaned back a bit. "Ask away Geralt, so far I have nothing to hide." He nodded and shifted subconsciously moving towards her. "How did you defeat the bruxa?"
