Chapter 14 – Let Go

Heather's P.O.V

“... I don't fully exile you to Odin knows where, but you should be facing the consequences that have been given to you.” She said and I nod. “And better to stop being the bad guy and start acting like the good guys.” It is better than being banished to a forsaken island. I won't promise myself to do everything entirely based on good, but I'll try. My intention here weren't supposed to hurt Astrid as well. Sure I would like to see her down but the Merida accident, she's taking it to far.

Don't worry Astrid, I won't even stay on this island anymore.

I walk down to my house, my mind's full of her last word to me. As I arrived, I opened my door and goes inside the dark hollow house. I found this house very odd, not to mention old.

I walk by the kitchen, unsure of what I am even doing. But as I got by the dining table, I could see the all familiar paper. A note from my parents 5 years ago before their deaths.

Dear, Heather

My sweet little daughter, things have been rough lately but you are still one tough lad, aren't you? I wish you knew how much we love you, we didn't mean to hide it from you.

We hide it because it is better this way, for you to never find out. So that You could live a happier life without knowing that me and your mother would be smiling proud above the clouds, watching over our precious girl.

There is nothing you could do to stop our fate, this is what our future is and you should let go. Do not dwell on the past, but live in the future with the things you love with you.

We're very sorry. We love you endlessly, no matter what. Don't worry about the mistakes you made, because human makes mistakes. And that is called life. Life is what gives us meanings to this world.

Love, mom and dad

My eyes tore away from the letter written on this piece of paper. It has been 5 years but it still breaks me to tears. I'm just the stubborn girl who couldn't just accept the fact that her parents aren't there anymore. The girl that won't let go even though her parents told her to do so.

It's just been so hard for me to live amongst strangers and alone.

I couldn't even control my jealousy towards the girl that obviously have the rights to have the guy I used to like as her's.

I couldn't control my rage after he showers her with love, such stupid of me to think that they would break apart as soon as possible.

The fit for each other perfectly, I should just accept that and let go.

Sigh

The “let go” preference again, it will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Overall, I couldn't believe I tore my part away for such deal with a sadistic princess that are just to obsessed with the chief.

I shook my head in attempt to clear my head for a while. Then I just had the feeling to leave immediately. I couldn't bear to stay any longer.

I pack my essentials as soon as possible, bringing the only things that matter for my journey and for my survival. I blew a whistle to call my dragon, at least I have a company.

I mounted her as soon as I feel that I am ready. I glance back the peaceful village around me, a soft smile found its way to my face.

Now I can finally be able to let go.
