Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo, Mexico.
Dear Frid,
The fact that I play football professionally was never a secret. It was never something I was trying to hide from you. Its just something I didn't think you would want to know.
And yes, I know Club Pachuca is one of the oldest teams in the country.
Dejame te explico (let me explain)...It was founded in 1901 by British Cornish miners living in Mexico and is nicknamed 'La Cuna del Futbol Mexicano', which translates to 'The Cradle of Mexican Football'. Pachuca is also one of the ten founding members of the Mexican Federation of football, along with other well known teams such as Club America and Club Deportivo Guadalajara. How's that for a history lesson in football? Jaja.
I would imagine my name is on the team roster since I represent them on the pitch.
I agree.
We should keep our appearances a secret and then when we meet, we can see if we can find each other based on what we have exchanged. It could be like a fun game. Thank you for keeping up with my career.
I wasn't happy with the draw. But thank you for cheering me up :)
'As romantic as a pot of soil.' Jaja.
I have to remember that one. Its funny. I had a girlfriend a couple of months ago, but it didn't work out and we broke up. I was lucky that we ended on a good note so we don't badmouth each other to the rest of the world or anything. I'm not really looking for anyone at the moment, if something happens then it happens, but I want to focus on my football career. Football and education are the most important things to me.
Just the other day I was invited to a primary school to speak to the kids. You know how kids are at that age, a lot of them aren't too thrilled about school. So I explained to them that edication is one of the keys to a successful life which is why I continued with my education.
Then I played a football match with the kids, signed some autographs, took some photos with them. And I gave one of them a signed football we raffled off. The little girl who won the ball kind of threw me off. She had the most curious name. I was embarrassed to ask her how to spell it because I didn't know how. Jaja. When she mention her name, the one thought that went through my mind was 'ay guey...' jaja. 'fuck...' How do I spell it?
Ajaja, Frida la Virgen, eh. You're an innocent soul.
What is 'dork'? I don't understand.
I don't think in Spanish we have a word for it.
I definitely recommend that you visit Mexico. Its a beautiful country full of rich history. And the people here are just so friendly and welcoming. Any place in Mexico can feel like home. Ah...Priest Miguel Hidalgo, which this state was named after was a priest who gave the famous 'cry of Dolores' in which he encouraged Mexicans to rise up and fight to become an independent nation. In those days Spain ruled over Mexico and much of Latinamerica and thanks to Hidalgo, the war for freedom began. So now each year on the night of September 15th going into the 16th, the President gives 'el grito de Dolores' and rings the bell that Hidalgo rang in his church. And its just a beautiful reminder that we are a free nation, and have been free for 204 years.
The cook book is still a work in progress, but my mom anticipates that it will be done in another week or two. So in the meantime, she wrote down a recipe on an index card for you to use. Its for carne asada tortas. You use almost all the same ingredients as the tacos, but instead of tortillas, you use Mexican sandwich rolls. But again, I doubt you'll find those in Germany. BUT I have a solution.
Mexican sandwich rolls are actually inspired by French baguettes. The reason for this is because in 1861 Napoleon III attempted to invade Mexico and he was successful for about six years. During this time, the country was run by Maximilian I of Mexico, supported by Napoleon who wanted an Empire ally in the Americas. Basically Maximilian was a puppet of the French Empire and lived in Guadalajara, which is why there are still tiny hints of French influence there. So use a baguette.
You are right!
Its the German genes that made me tall. Six feet, two inches.
I got the candy you sent and split it between my friends and I. In return I sent some more chips for you and your siblings. This time I got different kinds so you can try all the Mexican snacks.
Remember I said I wouldn't laugh at your drawing?
Would you be mad if I admit I laughed? And it wasn't a small laugh, it was one of those laughs where you take a big gulp of air in the end. One of those good ten to fifteen minute laughs. I saw your little note in the corner. A self-portrait? I want to think you're messing with me and sent a drawing created by a child, its that bad of a drawing Frid. In case its legit, I framed it and hung it up in my room, right across where I can see it and laugh whenever I feel upset. In exchange for the drawing I sent you one of my jerseys ;) Wear it on Saturdays so you can be with me in spirit, yeah?
I won't betray my favorite penpal ;) Don't worry Frid.
Sincerely,
Jürgen.
