Let me tell you a little tale.

So back like a long, long time ago, when everyone followed polytheism, there was this guy named Zeus.

I'm sure most of you have heard of him, ya know, the lightening bolt guy? Yeah, Hercules' father.

Anyways, there's this story written by Plato about humans. And apparently, we all used to have two heads, four arms and legs, two souls, and one, whole heart.

Now, if you're thinking, "Hey, that's cool!" You're probably wondering why we aren't like that now.

And no, it isn't because of evolution or because God made us the way we are. They didn't have those ideas way back then.

Long story short, Zeus got angry because he was scared of our power (as usual) and separated the humans in half, making us what we are now. One head, two arms and legs, one soul, and only half a heart.

"Cursed" to forever search for our other half.

We spend nearly our entire lives searching for what we've lost, because all most of us want is to feel whole. We search for someone to love, and love us back.

We look for another soul to harmonize with our own.

We wait for the person that makes us smile. No matter the place. No matter the circumstances.

We scour the world hoping to spend the rest of our moments living with someone special. Someone who makes us feel like nothing else matters.

After a while of not finding someone or finding too many wrong someones, we give up.

We convince ourselves that we are content with our loneliness while finding other things to keep us occupied.

What if we've just been looking for the wrong kind of love this whole time?

We are taught that the "one" who we'll love most is someone we'd like to make-out with every once in a while.

Why aren't we taught to look for someone who wants to hold our hand? Not our hips.

See, I believe in a platonic soul mate.

Someone who will love you unconditionally.

Someone who will drop everything if you need them. Someone you feel comfortable around. Someone who will press your head against their chest when you are in tears, and whisper "It'll be alright. I'm here." as you sob uncontrollably.

Someone who won't expect anything back when they've given you their everything.

Because you are all they could ever hope to have.

I was extremely lucky to find my soul mate.
