Inside the grand hall the ceilings were high and intricately designed. Everything about this place screamed wealth and so did the people inside. Men in suits stood with girls in tight dresses by their side. To say I felt out of place would be an understatement. "Don't speak to anyone unless I tell you to and don't go wandering off without me or one of the others, got it," Taehyung pulled me closer to him as we walked with our arms linked. I nod my head in response as I notice we receive a couple of stares as we made our way further into the room."Words, Hanna" Taehyung growls roughly under his breath, tightening his grip around my arm. "Yes, got it." I roll my eyes discretely. I didn't want to cause a scene here but he really was testing my patience. "Better," he smiles, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. I watch closely as Jungkook and Hobi make conversation with an older looking male. He says something funny sending the group into a deep chorus of laughter. I notice the familiar shape of a gun in his back pocket, something I'd realised almost every male in the room had.
"What are we here for?" I ask Taehyung as he looks around the hall. "I'm looking for someone," he responds, continuing to dart his eyes around the room. They come to settle on something in the distance and he smiles widely. "In fact, I think I just found him." He takes ahold of my hand leading me through the crowds of people with the others following close behind. As I walk I can feel the gun strapped around my leg brush up against my thigh. It's uncomfortable but in a strange sense it makes me feel safe, similar to Taehyung's hand in mine.
"He doesn't look like a criminal," I whisper as we approach the male in question. "That's why he's so good at what he does," Taehyung responds as we reach the bottom of the large staircase where he stands surrounded by a dozen other men. He was skinny, his dark brown hair casting a shadow over his face, accentuating his cheekbones and jaw.
"Kim Taehyung," he smiles, extending his arm out for a handshake when he clocks Taehyung beside him. Taehyung releases my hand in favour of the males and shakes it firmly. "Si hyuk, it's been a while," Taehyung nods.
"You haven't turned up to one of my functions in a long time." He briefly detaches his eyes from Taehyung's to meet mine. They scale down my body then back up to my face again. Taehyung had noticed his wandering eyes and pulled me closer to him by my waist. "We have been busy with business," he deadpans, his voice deepening.
"I see. Why don't you take a seat with us," Si hyuk offers, gesturing over to a large table a few feet away. Four men already sit around the table watching us carefully. Taehyung nods leading me and the others over to the table. I reach out for an empty chair but before I can sit on it, Taehyung is dragging my body down and on to his lap.
"How about we cut to the chase, what do you want from me?" Si hyuk asks pouring himself a drink and taking a slow slip from the rose-tinted wine glass. "I need your assistance." Taehyung leaned forwards slightly and I almost lost my balance on his lap. He places a firm hand on my thigh to stop me from falling off his leg.
"I'm going to need more information than that Kim," Si hyuk tapped his finger impatiently on the table, tilting his head to glare at Taehyung. "You either accept my business with no further questions asked or I find someone else to do the job for me," Taehyung spoke venomously. Si hyuk smirks at Taehyung's change in tone, swirling the dark liquid in his wine glass around in one hand. I feel the muscles in Taehyung's thigh flex underneath me and his hand on my thigh tightened a little.
"$10,000," Si hyuk proposed after a second of thought. I seem to hear a small snicker beside me coming from Hobi but when I turn to look at him his face is blank of any emotion. "Not a chance. Your service isn't worth that much," Taehyung laughed darkly. Si hyuk narrowed his eyes, the muscles in his jaw tightening at Taehyung's mockery.
