Lorelai walks down the sidewalk. She passes a sign that says "Stars Hollow Founded 1779" and crosses the street. She goes into Luke's Diner. Inside, she takes off her coat and picks up an empty mug from a table, then walks up to the counter.

"Please, Luke. Please, please, please."  Lorelai begs the diner owner, Luke.

"How many cups have you had this morning?"  He asked her annoyed.  Luke's s health freak.  He doesn't like that all she ever drinks is Coffee.

"None."  She lied but Luke knows her better than that.

"Plus..."

"Five, but yours is better."  She said and Luke had finally given in and he poured her a cup of coffee.

"You have a problem."  He added as he did so.

"Yes, I do."  Luke fills her cup.

"Junkie." He added on as she went to walk away.

"Angel. You've got wings, baby."  The phone rings as Lorelai goes back to her table. Luke answers it.

"Luke's." He then pauses.  "Yeah."  A young guy seated at the counter turns and watches Lorelai sip her coffee, then gets up and approaches her.

"You make that look really good."  The strange guy said once he got to her table.

"Oh, it is really good. It's the best coffee in town."  Lorelai told him as she drank her coffee.

"Oh yeah? I'll have to get a cup."

"Good plan."

"Yeah, I've never been here before. Just, uh, passing through on my way to Hartford."

"You're a regular Jack Kerouac."

"Yeah."

"Yeah." 

'This is awkward.'  Was all she could think in that moment.

"Hey, you mind if I sit down?"  He asked her as he gestured to the chair.

"Oh, you know what? Actually, I'm meeting some people so I. . ." Joey sits down at her table.

"I'm Joey."  He introduces himself expecting for her to reply with her name.

"Okay."  Was all she said hoping to get out of the awkward situation that was going on.

"What, you don't have a name?"  He asked her hoping to get her name.

"No, I do have a name. I just, I'm really meeting some people., so. . ."  She said really hoping that would get him to leave.

"So I guess I should get going."

"So soon?"  She joked which he had thought that she was being serious.

"What?"

"I'm just screwing with your mind, Joey. It's nice to meet you. Enjoy Hartford."

"Enjoy your coffee, mystery woman."

"Hm. I like that." As Joey goes back to the counter, Rory and Ryland walk in and they sit across from Lorelai, Ryland's eyes never leaving the book she was reading.

"Hey. It's freezing."  Rory said as the twins take off their jackets.

"Oh, what do you need? Hot tea, coffee?"  Lorelai asked Rory.
