⭐️Chapter 58: Snowsquall
Corrin and the group were ready to attack, but they knew full well Zane would either take them all head on at the same time, or flee and tell the authorities. Cod forbid he get one of the king's information keepers, Enaz. Now, this was something that could be reasoned with. Sure, Zane was...a little more distant than the other three when it came to friendship, but they were all still a team. There was just a misunderstanding at the moment. Corrin just hoped he could get his team, IceStar, back the easiest way possible.
"Listen Zane, we don't want to fight, we just want to settle a score with some people," Corrin said slowly, putting his hands up defensively.
"Oh? So you got in a quarrel with people in the dungeon?" Zane raised an eyebrow, unimpressed and not buying it.
"No, someone's been wrongfully thrown in! There have been innocent people in there that we need to get out!" Corrin replied urgently.
"Yeah, so? All the people from villages are probably innocent, but you know very much that King Chion said no one was to be set free until the prophecy fire creature was found," Zane said.
"But that's just it! We found the fire creature and-"
Rehl coughed loudly, as if to signal to Corrin that he was going to spoil too much of he wasn't careful. Corrin paused where he was and re-routed his sentence.
"One of our helpers that found the fire creature has been locked up, and we need them to track the fire creature down to turn in to my dad!" he explained.
Zane looked down at Corrin, and Corrin kept his eyes focused back at Zane. Rehl and Jay watched with anticipation as the tensions in the room rose.
"Corrin."
"What."
"You know full well that I know what you just told me is a lie, do you not?"
Zane may have been the quiet one, but that didn't mean he couldn't listen in and obtain information. As Corrin's friend, he believed that he knew him best, despite his cold attitude most of the time.
"You...you don't-"
"Rehl's need to cough gave it away. Spit the truth," Zane said sternly.
"But if I do, you won't let us in!"
"You've found the fire creature, haven't you? And you've befriended it, if I were to guess?"
Corrin gulped, but knew there was no use in arguing. He slowly nodded his head as Jay gave him a worried look.
"Can you pleeeeeaaaase help us out? You know how important this is to me, don't you?" Corrin pleaded.
Zane looked at Corrin.
Zane looked at the other two.
Zane sighed.
-----
"There he is."
Corrin pointed, and sure enough, the group could see the four cephalopods take a turn down a stone-lined hallway. They were still wearing the Rinkling suits, and had their weapons nearby as well. Man the dungeons could be hard to navigate if you weren't careful.
"Is he with the others?" Jay asked.
"Yeah, but he's lagging behind," Corrin replied.
"Alright, let's split him off," Rehl murmured.
"How do we do tha-Corrin!"
The other three members of IceStar watched as Corrin straight up walked down the dungeon paths, right towards where the Wave Crashers had left. One Corrin was about halfway there, he stood firm and gave a loud "A-HEM" down the halls. The group heard the footsteps stopped, and sure enough, Fang's head peeked around from the other hallway and spotted them. Corrin stood patiently, simply tapping his foot with crossed arms. Fang looked around before cautiously approaching the group, his brella by his side.
