"Eds?" Richie called from Sonia Kaspbrak's front porch. He knocked. No answer. "Mrs. K?" Sonia opened the door and looked at Richie. He was wearing a blue buttoned up shirt with khakis and white converse that he only wore on special occasions. He had brushed his hair, which looked a bit less.... puff today. "Richard?" She asked. "Is Eddie home? We have a date to go on." Richie said with a big smile. Sonia looked puzzled, "He's in his room... you can go up, if you want to?"
"Thank you, ma'am." Richie said as she stepped aside and let him in. He walked up the stairs and took a left. He knocked on Eddie's door and heard a small, "come in.", from the other side. He opened the door and saw Eddie sitting on his bed, reading. He hadn't seen him in two days. IT HURT. Today is special! Eddie looked up from his book and smiled at Richie. His heart melted.
"Hey, Richie! Why are you so dressed up?" Eddie asked, interested.
"Well, I'm taking you on a date! Happy one week!" Richie responded, holding out a single flower.
"What? Rich, you know we can't do that.... no one wants us together. So, you know, dates are hard." Eddie said quietly, looking down. Richie sat down next to Eddie on the bed and grabbed his hand.
"Eds," Richie said, lifting Eddie's face up to look in his eyes, "I didn't say it was a public date." Eddie's eyes lit up. "Come on, get dressed! We've got a schedule to keep!" Richie said and pecked Eddie on the cheek.Eddie smiled and went to his closet. He pulled out a pastel pink button up and khakis and went into the bathroom to change. He came out and put on his white converses and walked over to Richie to help him up. "Ok, let's go!" Eddie said, very excitedly. He pulled Richie up and ran down the stairs, still holding his hand. "BYE MOM!" Eddie yelled as he swung the door open and stepped out. Richie tripped on the door frame and grabbed Eddie's shoulder for support. They both almost fell but Eddie kept walking to the driveway. He walked to get his bike but Richie stopped him and told him to look in the street. "When did you get a car?" Eddie asked excitedly. "I borrowed Stan's car. He said that if I wanted to take you out then I needed a ride." Richie answered. Eddie walked to the car and got in, followed by Richie.
"So, where are we going?" Eddie asked
"You'll see..." Richie said with a smirk as he turned the radio up and rolled the windows down.
