Being best friends with Chance was full of crazy adventures. Ever since you met him in kindergarten the two of you have been attached at the hip. You were there for him through everything from heartaches, finding out he was going to become a dad, the birth of his daughter, getting onto the show Boy Band, winning the show, touring, the band going separate ways and now as you get in your car to go visit him.

You remember planning on sneaking into his hotel room to hang out with him during tour since they weren't allowed anyone other than family to stay over in their rooms. It was a usual occurrence for you but it was the one time in particular while they were in NYC that always stayed in your mind. It was the moment you started to see him in a different light as the two of you laid down on his bed with soft music floating through the air as you caught each other up on your lives.

It had become a tradition for you two to spend Friday nights together listening to music and catching up with each other and tonight was no different. You got in your car and made the drive to Chance's house. Everyone was out of the house for the night including Brooklyn who was over at Emma's.

You made my way into the house as Chance opened the door and greeted you. You made your way into his room where he had snacks laid out and a candle lit on his night stand. The lights were off with his starry sky projector lighting the room in calming shades of blue. You got on his bed and started to scroll through your playlists before landing on the one titled "chill mode" and clicking on The Feeling of Falling in Love by Bobby Mares.

The song quietly flowed through the speakers in his room and you unknowingly started to smile and trace the tattoos along Chance's arms.

"What are you smiling about? Thinking about a potential boyfriend or something?"

"Maybe..." you whispered as your mind replayed a series of small yet meaningful moments in your friendship.

There were so many small moments and details that you never really noticed until that night in New York. All the small things that made up the boy laying down in bed beside you. The things that slowly made you fall in love with him. From his smile to his gentle heart. Everything about him consumed me as we laid there in the silence. The only noise being the song playing in the room.

I looked over to see Chance already looking my way. He wore a soft smile and as I looked in his eyes, I noticed a slight glint. I sat up and climbed onto him before laying my head down on his chest.

I could feel my heart begin to race as I whispered the 5 words I had previously been too scared to say.

"I'm in love with you."

I held my breath as I waited for him to respond. The words were out and now he knows how I feel. There's no going back and all that I can do is lie here and wait for his reaction. Does he feel the same or will this ruin our friendship forever?

After another 5 minutes of silence I decided to break it. My heart and my mind couldn't take any more of it. My heart was racing and my mind was going into overdrive as I couldn't stop overthinking. I needed something to be said no matter the result.

"I think I'm really falling for you Chance. I know this is kind of sudden but please say something. Say anything."

"I'm falling. I'm yours Y/n."

I lifted my head off of his chest and felt s few tears fall from my eyes. I watched as he lifted his hand and wiped away the tears as his own started to fall.

"We're ridiculous. I can't believe we're both crying right now. We're about to start a beautiful thing yet here we are crying like babies."

"Some people search a lifetime for what's right in front of me. I can't believe I lucked out all the way back in kindergarten when we got paired as recess buddies."

"I love you Chance."

"I love you Y/n."
