A/N: Merry Christmas Eve y'all! I hope you all have a stress free day of fun with family/friends.
Conor had always been a major part of your life from the moment you first met back when you were four. The two of you had met during his younger sister Kaitlyn's birthday party. He was six and ended up helping you tie your shoe when the laces came undone as you ran around playing tag wit the rest of your friends. You had tripped and fallen in their backyard which led to a bit of crying. No one had noticed as they continued to run and play but luckily Conor did so he help you up and comforted you. The two of you ended up sticking together for the rest of the party and had become best friends ever since.
It sucked when you had to move to LA when you turned 15 but your family said there was no other option due to your parents work. There were hours of crying at the Smith household as you had grown close to all of them but it hurt the most to be leaving Conor. He had been such a huge support for you throughout the past 11 years and you were scared things would change when you left. You two kept in contact and nothing really changed but luckily for you, Conor ended up flying out to LA to be on Boy Band the following year which meant the two of you got to spend tons of time together.
During your time together, it had made your bond even stronger. Sadly as Christmas came around this year, he had to fly back home so you were left to spend another Christmas without him. It left you feeling cold inside as you watched him board the plane and fly home. It's not like you two wouldn't talk during the time he was gone but you were really looking forward to spending time with him and going all out. It was a holiday that the two of you loved and back when you both lived in Cleveland, you would go through all the Christmas traditions together.
"Don't walk away, cause it's cold in LA every time you leave me behind." I said to Conor when he told me he would be leaving back to Cleveland.
"Just stay at my place. You know my family loves you and it would be so nice to spend Christmas together again." I continued to plead as I wrapped my arms around him.
"Y/n, you know I can't do that. I already promised Patrick and Brendan that I would be home since I'm gone so much. I'll be back in a couple weeks so it won't be that long. Plus we FaceTime and text all the time anyways. It won't be that bad." He explained while hugging me back.
"I guess but I'm just going to miss you. It feels like just yesterday when you showed up at my door to surprise me when you got on the show. I feel like we haven't had enough time together."
"You can always come home with me? Everyone would be so excited to see you and you can finally meet the newest addition."
"I would love that but my parents would never let me leave right before Christmas. You'll just have to FaceTime me every day so I can see everyone and meet Addison."
So here you are on Christmas morning with your laptop set up with a FaceTime call. You made sure your whole family and the Christmas tree was in sight as Conor did the same on his end. The two of you decided that this was the best way to make up for the distance. That way you guys could share in the joy of opening gifts together as one big family. You two spent the whole morning on FaceTime together just catching up with each others families and enjoying the holiday together.
Even though this wasn't how you originally planned on spending the holiday, it was much better than you expected it to be. At the end of the day, you know that nothing could keep your families apart and you guys would always be there for one another even if you were miles apart.
