This Story is a mixture of fantasy historical fiction, the fantasy part being, even though there were probably uprisings and revolutions around Mexico in the 19th century, mine is totally fabricated for the sake of the plot of my story, so I am going to be kind of vague with the details of the who, where, what, and when of the political scene and background of this supposed overthrow of government at the time, as they only serve a purpose of bringing my characters together. The idea for this story first came to me years ago, in about 2002, and it was only half written for a bit of fun for another online friend of mine at the time, because we were both fans of Zorro, and I also had a bit of a girl-crush on Manolito in the High Chaparral tv Western series, and me and my online friend loved a bad boy character to play of.

I did have it all finished more or less in my head at the time, so now I am going to attempt to recall it from my memory, and get it all out in words on a page, because I feel its worth the effort, even though it's very tongue in cheek and cliched, because my knowledge of Mexico stems from the two shows I have mentioned but it serves its purpose for my background. So knowing how much Wattpad readers love the bad boy, feisty girl story line, this is my spin on it, though be warned, there might not be any open declarations of love between them, and its going to be a bit of a long haul, as spans over twenty years.. if I actually get that far.

P.S. If anyone has read my Mouse story, this could be almost along similar lines, with the one main exception, our heroine Alise, is feisty and fiery and stubborn and proud, so the complete opposite of Melanie, and more like a female equivalent of Ricardo

Prologue (Somewhere near the Mexican Border 1880)

The sound of gunfire, and the sudden speeding up of the carriage, as the horses where whipped into a gallop, informed the passengers Alise Olivares, and her personal maid, Marie, that there was serious trouble ahead.

Alise found herself clinging on with her hands for dear life onto the side of the carriage so she would not be thrown from her seat, as it was bumped and rattled along at almost breakneck speed in the rush to avoid the posse of men, They seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, loudly whooping and firing their guns, in their attempt to intimidate the driver of the carriage along the four outriders who flanked it, and whose job it was to protect the carriage and its precious occupants, from such attacks. They were becoming more common lately, with all the civil unrest and upheaval that had been happening, especially around the borderlands.
