Alise was still clutching her locket around her neck, as she lay back in her bed, staring up at the ceiling in the early hours of the following morning. Diego lay next to her sleeping; his arm carelessly lay across her midriff keeping her pinned down to the bed.

She had tried her hardest to shut herself down emotionally to what was happening to her as he took her, even when she remained mostly un co-operative to his attempted rough caresses, and switch off so she could not feel anything. It had not been that easy, even now when it was all over. She was getting recollections of the smell of whisky from his breath, the feel of his hands and mouth on her skin, and all she wanted to do was crawl out of the bed and get away from him to escape the invading memory of him claiming her.

The most disturbing aspect for her, was the fact she found she was quite as repulsed by their joining as she thought she would, but, even so it had not been an enjoyable experience either, and she was glad when it ended and he moved of her now she didn't move, worried it would it stir him awake again and he might want to repeat the process.

Before he had drifted off, he had warned her that he was a light sleeper, and any sudden movements from her, or if she had any ideas she could have another go at ending his life whilst he slept, it would not be a good move, because he would instantly be awake, and if didn't make her suffer, then her father certainly would, with just one shout out to his man, who guarding them outside the bedroom door.

She hated that so far, he had managed to cover all his bases, giving her no opportunity to escape the inevitable, but as she had stated to him earlier, he might have her body, but he would never have her soul. She might comply to his demands in the bedroom, but in every other way, she was planning to defy him in any manner she could get away with, that much she promised herself.

He would regret the day he had married her.

Which was why she was not going to break down in tears and weep and feel sorry for herself whilst she lay still staring up at the ceiling listening to him snoring next to her ear. She was too busy being angry, and coldly determined to show him that he didn't realise just what he had taken on, when he had forced her into marrying him.

"Alise, what have you done?" Felipe greeted his daughter with open dismay, when she finally was able to escape from the bedroom later that morning, once had Diego woken up. Thankfully he had been too preoccupied with still establishing his new hold on the territory with his men, who had come to inform him that there were still pockets of resistance going on outside the ranch, meaning he had practically ignored her when he got up and dressed and left the room. It had lifted Alise's heart a little to hear that there were still people refusing to give in to the new government takeover, and were causing trouble for Diego, which also distracted him from worrying about her.

Alise was glad when her maid, Marie, came to the room to help her get dressed. She had also worriedly informed her, that her father knew about her marriage to Diego after prising the information from her the night before, and now he was not a happy man.

It had taken all Marie's efforts to convince him to remain in bed and not try and find his daughter and Diego, luckily his body was too weak for him to do more than make an attempt to sit up, before he had felt dizzy and exhausted, and Marie had pleaded with him to calm down and rest himself, that Alise would speak to him and explain everything when she had the chance.

Which was why she now had come to see her father as soon as she could, with Diego gone, he had left his men still guarding over the Villa, so her freedom was still limited, as she was informed, she was not to leave the building. Not that she wanted to, when all she cared about was being with her father
