Chapter 9-A Reunion!

Naho's Pov:-

I hurried back home since I spent last night at Kazu and his friends' house. I had informed Mom and Dad about it though.

"Naho!" I turned back to see Kanata coming out of his house.

"Kanata, Ohayo (Morning)!" I greeted him with a smile.

"Where were you yesterday?" was his question.

"About it..." I don't understand how I should answer him.

"Why didn't you ask me to pick you?"

"I fell asleep so I was not able to contact you but-"

"You met Kazu, right?" he asked.

"Hmm..." I looked down.

"I'm glad that you were not with some strange guy." He said.

I looked at him.

"By the way, don't forget we are going to dinner tonight with Ryusei." He reminded me.

"I haven't forgotten it, Kanata!" I smiled at him.

"I'll meet you up at 8 then!" he smiled back.

"Hmm...Shigoto ganbatte ne (Do your best at work)!"

"Arigatou!" he left for his work.

At Night:-

"OII, HAYAKU! NAHO!"

I came out of the house as Kanata was yelling my name.

"Kanata, urusai (Kanata, you're so noisy)!" I yelled back at him.

I closed the door behind me and walked towards Kanata and his car.

"Baka (Idiot), you're late!" he hissed.

"I'm not that late, Baka!" I hissed back at him.

The next moment we both laughed. How nostalgic! We used to quarrel like this all the time when we were kids. I'm glad we are back in those times.

"Let's go!" we sat in the car and left towards the restaurant.

In 15 minutes, we reached there. Ryusei was already waiting there.

"Yo, Ryusei!" Kanata greeted him with a hug.

"Yo!" he greeted back.

"Hey!" Ryusei separated from Kanata and hugged me.

Kanata's phone rang.

"Ah, sorry!" he picked up the phone and stood at a distance.

In a minute or two, he came back.

"Sorry, but I need to go to my office urgently." He said.

"Doushita no (What happened)?" Ryusei asked.

"The project we were doing had gotten some problems. I need to fix them by tomorrow as we have a presentation on it in the afternoon tomorrow." He informed.

"Is that so? Then it is okay, Kanata. You go. Work is important." I told him.

"Yes! We will meet once again and then give us a treat for not making it today!" He winked at Kanata.

"Haai!"

We all chuckled over it.

Kanata left and I and Ryusei decided to have dinner together. We were sitting inside the restaurant waiting for our order to come.

"By the way, I read your book, Naho." He suddenly spoke.

"Huh?"

"I really loved it. But it also reminded me of some of my regrets." he looked down at the table.
