Chapter Fifty Nine

We stand outside in fear. "The gates are still open, we can go inside the lab and warn everyone." Dustin states. "How did you guys open the gates?" I ask confusingly. "We'll explain later, in the meantime, run!" Lucas exclaims fearfully.

"Mom? Nancy? Guys?" I tremble in fear as I call out to them, with dead silence. I find myself slipping my hand into Billy's, as we stroll further through the hallways, and use flashlights to see. Snarling and growling is heard from ahead of us. "This is Dustin, does anyone copy? Over." Dustin tries to communicate through the walkie talkie, with no response. "I hope those things didn't devour them." Lucas says worriedly. "I'm sure they're fine." I say. "How do you know?" Dustin asks me. "Well...uh, we can only assume." I mumble, hoping they didn't hear my response.

"We can't just assume they're fine. We have to know they're fine." Lucas clarifies. "Shit, they heard me." I mutter to myself. "They're fine, as long as the Wheeler's are with them. The Wheeler's are badass. Especially the one that's right with us now." Billy smirks, gazing into my eyes. I try to hide the blush forming on my face. "What's happening to me? I hate feeling smitten." I groan in annoyance. "Every girl knows you can't deny the Hargrove charm."

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Hargrove." I pat him on the shoulder.

"You guys are gross." Both Lucas and Dustin say in sync as we playfully roll our eyes at them.

"Jonathan!" I hear a familiar voice shout.

"Nancy?"

We start running towards the sound of her voice.

Snarling and growling is heard once more as we come near two double doors. I take a deep breath, before Billy and I open the door handles.

The room seems empty as we look around. Suddenly, a human- sized demogorgon leaps out of nowhere, and ready to attack us. I quickly grab my gun out of my back pocket and start shooting at it, as we all scream in fear.

"Is everyone okay?" I ask, out of breath as everyone nods.

"Guys, look out!" Dustin exclaims fearfully as I turn on my heel, seeing another demogorgon.

Suddenly, the building starts rumbling.
