CHAPTER THREE
✧
-: third year :-── IN WHICH THEY BOARD THE TRAIN
. . .
Whilst Marlie wasn't sure about her brother, she had certainly not been able to get more than a couples hours of sleep before her own thoughts woke her up. The thoughts of what they had heard the night before plagued her mind, but when the morning came, she could only focus on one thing.
They were returning to Hogwarts, and the thought of returning to the place she was happiest to be managed to overcome the thought of what seemed to be her fourth time facing death sometime in the next year.
Marlie had rushed out of their shared room long before Harry was ready, leaving the boy to finish packing and convince Hedwig to get back into her cage. She sat with Mrs Weasley, Hermione and Ginny as she ate, remaining silent as they giggled over some story about a love potion.
"Are you ok?" Hermione asked, and Marlie shrugged, noticing Harry and Ron joining them at breakfast.
"Later." Marlie replied, catching her twin's eye as he sat across from her. The both of them stayed rather quiet until breakfast past, and the next argument between Hermione and Ron about Scabbers and Crookshanks.
"They're here. You two first, please." Arthur returned to the breakfast table, having been waiting for the Ministry cars to arrive. Mr Weasley marched the twins across the short stretch of road to the first of the dark green cars, holding the door opened for them.
They got in, squeezing into the corner of the back seat, Hermione and Ron joining them. The journey to Kings Cross was uneventful, to say the least, and they arrived with twenty minutes to spare.
The Ministry drivers found them trolleys for their luggage, and with a touch of their hats in a form of salute to Mr Weasley, they left them at the station. Just like moving them from the Leaky Cauldron to the car, Mr Weasley stuck to the twins' side.
"Right then," he said, glancing around them. "Let's do this in pairs, as there are so many of us.I'll go through first with Harry. Fred or George, you take Marlie, please."
George stepped forward, and Marlie smiled, letting George take her elbow and pull her through the barrier between the platforms. Fred, Ginny and Percy arrived next to them.
"Ah, there's Penelope!" said Percy, smoothing his hair and going pink again. Ginny caught Marlie and Harry's eye, and they both turned away to hide their laughter as Percy strode over to a girl withlong, curly hair, walking with his chest thrown out so that she couldn't miss his shiny badge.
The group put their luggage in the train, and put Hedwig and Crookshanks onto the luggage rack, returning to Mr and Mrs Weasley on the platform. They stood by the side as Mrs Weasley hugged all her children, then Hermione, and then the twins, who shared the same feeling of embarassment and being rather pleased.
"Do take care, won't you Marlie, Harry?" she said as she straightened up, her eyes oddly bright. Then she opened her enormous handbag and said, "I've made you all sandwiches. Here you are, Ron... no, they're not corned beef... Fred? Where's Fred? Here you are dear..."
"Marlie, Harry," said Mr Weasley quietly, as Mrs Weasley doled out sandwiches, "come over here for a moment." The twins did as they were asked, following Mr Weasley behind a pillar. "There's something I need to tell you two before you leave."
