CHAPTER THIRTEEN

-: third year :-

── IN WHICH THEY GO TO HOGSMEADE

. . .

Instantly after the twins disappeared, Harry and Marlie slipped behind the statue of the hunchback witch, using a spell that appeared on the map to reveal the passageway in the witch's hump.

It was a very narrow, low and earthy passageway, and Harry used the light of his wand to guide them through the uneven passageway, hurrying so they didn't lose any time in the small village.

"Carefully - there's a bit of a gap." Harry said, and Marlie dodged it, much more careful as they continued the rest of the way. It seemed to go on forever, and after what seemed like an hour, the passage began to rise, and ten minutes later, they were greeted by a set of stone stairs.

Trying not to make any sounds, they made their way up the long, twisting staircase, Marlie leading the way. Her head suddenly hit something and she winced, using her hands to explore what it was.

"A trapdoor." She mumbled to Harry. He nodded, and the pair remained silent, trying not to breathe too loudly as they tried to hear if there was any noise above them.

When they had confirmed that wherever the trapdoor led was silent, Marlie pushed it open slowly, peering over an edge. They were in a cellar, and the twins clambered out, replacing the trapdoor.

They could certainly hear noises now, the sound of talking, laughter and the tinkling of a bell. Marlie took the lead, creeping towards the wooden staircase, not knowing what to do next.

But then, the noise became much louder and a door opened. "And get another box of Jelly Slugs, dear, they've nearly cleaned us out." A woman's voice could be heard, and Marlie glanced back at Harry, panicked.

Footsteps could be heard coming down the staircase, and Harry suddenly tugged his sister behind a rather large crate. They waited for a moment, the footsteps passing their crate.

The noise of shifting boxes could be heard from the other side of the cellar, and knowing they wouldn't have another chance, the twins dashed up the stairs, to find themselves behind the counter of Honeydukes.

They ducked behind it, moving silent from out behind it and straightening up. Honeydukes was so crowded that nobody looked twice at the twins, too busy trying to get their desired sweets.

There was almost every sweet you could ever imagine. Jelly beans, bonbons, sherbet balls, Drooble's gum, toffee, every flavour of chocolate imaginable.

"There." Harry pointed out, Ron and Hermione were stood beneath a sign that read 'Unusual Tastes'. The twins made their way over, sneaking up behind them.

"Ugh, no, they won't want one of those, they're for vampires, I expect," Hermione was saying, as Ron examined a tray of blood flavoured lollipops.

"How about these?" said Ron, shoving a jar of Cockroach Clusters under Hermione's nose.

"Definetely not." Marlie said, wrinkling her nose. Her voice alerted the two best friends, and surprised, Ron and Hermione turned to the twins.
