CHAPTER ELEVEN

-: third year :-── IN WHICH THEY PLAY HUFFLEPUFF
. . .
Marlie wasn't very hungry as she arrived at breakfast the next morning. Her twin had been there for a while, and was eating toast, an empty bowl by his plate.
"It's going to be a tough one," said Wood, who wasn't eating anything. The team tried to comfort him, telling him it was only a bit of rain. But as Marlie tried to stomach a slice of toast, the weather worsened outside.
So much so, that even though the entirety of the school was still turning out for the game, they were running down to the pitch under the cover of rather large umbrellas.
The team quickly changed into their scarlett robes, Marlie pulling back her hair as Wood tried to begin his usual pep talk. However nothing came out, and the time their pep talk took was filled with each member of the team saying rushed words of encouragement.
Oliver shook his head after attempting to produce a speech once again, beckoning the team to follow him out onto the pitch, instantly being attacked by the harsh weather.
"We've got this." Angelina said, Katie nodding beside her. The two older girls had taken Marlie under thier wings more than once, and it seemed that every match, they were always encouraging the younger girl, knowing that she tended to worry about the outcomes of matches, especially in this weather.
Marlie staggered to the side slightly from the wind as they walked further out onto the pitch. Cedric Diggory attempted a smile at Oliver, who only nodded, his jaw set in place. The two captains walked forward, shaking hands.
"Mount your brooms." Madame Hooch said, and Marlie swung her leg over the side of her school broom. It had been decided that Harry would use the Nimbus this time, due to his importance as a seeker. Her brother had insisted she used it once or twice, but Marlie generally refused, it had been a present to Harry after all, not to the both of them.
The whistle blew, and instantly, Marlie was up in the air, Angelina already having got the quaffle and throwing it to her. The Potter girl flew as quick as she could, but the wind was against her, and she only just managed to reach the goal and managed to get the quaffle through the hoop.
It was the first goal, but there was no time to celebrate as a bludger flew towards her, and she missed it narrowly, Fred and George appearing by her seconds later. "Do try and help me not get killed." She yelled at them, the twins only just hearing her through the rain and offerring her a weak thumbs up with the hand that was clutching their bat, before shooting off to try and stop the bludger from getting Harry.
The weather was against the two teams, and after the first goal, it became harder and harder to even fly, the wind so strong that Marlie almost ended up in the Slytherin and Ravenclaw stands several times.
Her quidditch robes were soaked through, and anyone who came near couldn't be distinguished, she had no idea if they were from Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. She only managed to score a few more goals, using her memory of the Quidditch pitch to get up to the top - you couldn't see one side to another.
At some point, Hooch's whistle sounded, just as the first flash of lightening struck. Marlie got to the ground, struggling over to the gathered Gryffindor team, Fred aand George pushing her into the centre.
