CHAPTER FORTY TWO

-: fourth year :-

── IN WHICH IRELAND WINS

. . .

The clapping and cheering didn't seem to die down for a while, Bagman looking around with a smile on his face that indicated he had never been happier.

The Weasleys, Hermione and the Potter twins truly had some of the best seats in the house, a perfect view of the entire stadium. Even if there was the slight downside of Marlie having the Malfoys behind her, but she was looking to have a good time and truly was planning on just ignoring them.

Thousands of flags waved, adding their discordant national anthems to the racket. The huge black board opposite them was wiped clear of its last message ( Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans - A Risk With Every Mouthful! ) and now showed BULGARIA: 0, IRELAND: 0.

"And now, without further ado, allow me to introduce... the Bulgarian National Team Mascots!" Bagman announced The right-hand side of the stands, which was a solid block of scarlet, roared its approval.

"I wonder what they've brought," Mr Weasley asked, leaning forward in his seat. "Aaah!" He suddenly whipped off his glasses and polished them hurriedly on his robes. "Veela!"

"What are veel - ?" Harry began, but a hundred veela were now gliding out onto the field, and his question was answered for him. Marlie leaned forward, zooming in with her Omnioculars, trying to see what he saw.

Veela were women, some of the most beautiful women that Marlie had ever seen. Around her, the boys seemed to be in a complete trance, eyes glued to the creatures at the bottom of the field. The Veela were dancing, a sight that only entranced the males in the audience even further.

To the side of her, Harry had stood up and on the other side of him, Ron had done the same. They didn't even seem to register their own movements, and disgusted glances were shared between Hermione and Marlie.

Simultaneously, Hermione and Marlie's hands darted out, trying to pull them back to their seats. But they failed, Harry and Ron's feet were planted stiffly down.

Behind her, Marlie could hear shifting and she froze for just a moment, horror filling her veins as she let go of her brother's wrist, twisting around in seconds with her arms outstretched, pushing Malfoy back down into his seat.

His eyes were glued to the sight of the Veelas, and in another momentary decision, Marlie covered his view with her other hand. A sound of upset could be heard and the Potter girl rolled her eyes.

"Don't you dare think about that." She began, eyelashes fluttering under her palms. "The last thing I want is you trying to climb over me... although you jumping off of the balcony is surprisingly tempting." Marlie added, her tone sounding as if she was seriouusly considering it.

"Get your hands off of me." Malfoy hissed, dragging Marlie's hand pushing him back against his chair off of his chest, although he hesitated when reaching for the hand over his eyes. "Just.. let me cover my own eyes."

"No need." Marlie glanced over her shoulder as outrageous roars came from the rest of the stadium as the Veela stopped dancing, retracting her arm and turning back in her seat, not another word spoken.
