Chapter 14

I sighed as I sat on my desk, with my chin propped up by my arm, looking out of the window on this dreary, dull day.

Aaron was still ignoring me, which made me feel horrible every time I looked at him. It had been almost a week since the incident at the beach and yet Aaron still chose not to talk to me. No matter how many times I would try to talk to him, he would just walk away.

The class was eerily quiet as they all concentrated on their work. I really wasn't in the mood to do any work as my mind would often be distracted of thoughts such as Aaron and other spy related issues in my life whenever I looked down at the poem we were supposed to be working on. I couldn't even look at a poem without thinking about Aaron, that was how pathetic it had gotten.

I looked around the room to see everyone concentrating very hard on our latest English assignment. I didn’t even know what we were supposed to be doing, to be honest. Whilst looking around I noticed Miss Ricci sneaking glances at the door every so often. I just decided to ignore her; she had been acting weirder than usual lately.

I turned my attention to the desk beside me, where Aaron was working. He didn’t acknowledge me as his head was down, concentrating on his work like the others were doing. Whenever his head came back up, I would quickly turn around, hoping that he didn’t catch me staring at him. Seriously, what was wrong with me today? I had never acted like this before. I gave up and attempted to do some work. There was really no use in trying to get his attention.

Suddenly, out of the blue, the door slammed open and three men dressed in tight black ninja suits barged in with their faces covered in some cloth so that you could only see their eyes. This didn’t look good. Instincts kicked in and I jumped off my seat, shouting “Everyone get out, now”

The once quiet room then burst into havoc as everyone jumped off their seats, screaming, flailing their arms about all trying to escape out the room.

I waited for everyone to leave before I took on one of the ninjas-yes; they looked like ninjas to me- by surprise, by kicking him from behind. He stumbled and fell onto one of the desks. The other two ninjas obviously noticed that I wasn’t like everyone else, running out, and seen me as a threat, so also tried to fight me. How was I supposed to take on two ninjas by myself? Two against one, now that just wasn’t fair.

One was advancing towards me, so the first thing I did was attempt to punch him in the face but he was too fast for me and quickly caught my hand before it made contact with his face. Now, if I had learned anything from my previous mission, it was not to bother attempting to use my other hand to punch him again since it was useless as he would probably catch my other hand. So I did what I did in the last mission and kicked him where the sun didn’t shine. I smirked as he fell on the ground with a groan. I was just one step ahead of the game.

I almost didn’t notice, the other ninja was slowly advancing towards me while this was happening and instinct took over as I scissor kicked him until I kicked his chin. He was caught off guard and stumbled back slightly and I took that as my opportunity to kick him in the stomach until he fell to the ground.

Before I even had the chance to breath, the very first guy that I had knocked out started to wake up, so I punched him in the face, rendering him unconscious again as he lay back on the table with a groan.

I was making my way out of the classroom with a triumphant grin on my face, when I noticed Miss Ricci still in the classroom. Her face was expressionless and I wasn't sure if she was in shock or something. I walked up to her and asked her "Miss, are you okay?" genuinely worried for her.

She sauntered slowly towards me, a small smile playing on her face. "Oh yes Patricia, I am fine. It's you, you should be worried about" she replied in low, sinister tone. With each step she took forward, I took a step back. I was really confused. What did she mean by it's me I should be worried about?

"I'm worried" she continued, “That your little secret will come out"

"What secret?" I asked sceptically. What did she know?

"Oh, you know, that you’re a spy and you work somewhere here in the school" she replied casually as if it was something that was said every day.

I was stunned. I was so sure that I had managed to keep my secret hidden, but I quickly covered it up. "What are you talking about?" I asked, feigning innocence.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about". She then stopped in her tracks, just before she got to me. “Amanda was right about you" she sneered.

“Amanda? How do you know Amanda?”
