Chapter 16

Sitting at the beach, playing with the sand through my fingers as I was trying to get my head round the past 24 hours.

It felt so good to get out of my disguise for once, especially those darn glasses. I had always hated those.  Now I knew what it felt like to just be me, sitting beside Aaron and not having to worry about him finding anything out. He already knew my secret.

I will admit I did get scared when Aaron left me standing there is the hall last night as he made his way to Amanda.  Just as Amanda was about to load the diamond into the cannon, Agent Daniels, Andy and other spies that worked for Daniels came barging through the door. Amanda tried to make a run for it but Aaron grabbed her arm and turned her so she was facing his back, his arm around her neck making sure that she wouldn’t escape. She was struggling but Aaron kept a tight hold of her, until Daniels made his way towards her.

“Amanda” Daniels sneered. “You did quite a good job of blocking the doors but obviously not good enough” he smirked. “You obviously underestimated us”

Amanda screamed. “Let me go Aaron!” she was kicking her legs about in the air trying to break free. “I promised you a great position in the academy. What happened? I thought that’s what you wanted”

Aaron had an unreadable expression on his face, so I wasn’t sure what he was thinking or how he was feeling at the moment. “I would never betray anyone I cared about like that” he growled in her ear and let her go, pushing her towards one of Daniels workers, with disgust.

“Take her away” Daniels commanded and the men held her by her arms and dragged her away, with her kicking and screaming for them to let her go.

I just stood there, unmoving, not knowing what to think. This was all a shock to me. It felt like a weight has been lifted off me, now knowing all the answers.

" How could we have both been so oblivious to the fact that we were both spies" Aaron gave a dry laugh, breaking me out of my thoughts, as he sat beside me on the beach, the exacts spot where we were last time when we came to the beach.

“I have no idea" I shrugged. “We must have had really good disguises like Amanda said" I laughed.

“Speaking of Amanda, what happened to her afterwards? I didn't bother to find out after the dance"

"Daniels is interrogating her, which was the last I heard about her. I'm not sure what’s going to happen to her after and to be honest I don't really want to know" I just felt that that part of my life, the Amanda part, was over and I could move on, no longer feeling any guilt about her being supposedly dead.

Aaron sighed. "I've been thinking for a while to give up this spy job, I just needed a reason to leave. Now I found one" he turned to me, looking at me expectantly.

I looked at him wide eyed and taken aback. “The reason better not be me" I scolded. He gave a sheepish grin in return. “Don’t give up just because of me. Seriously, it's not worth it" I shook my head, trying to persuade him that this was a bad idea. I didn't want him regretting it later in life.

I looked out towards the tide coming in and out. It was calming and peaceful. "You know, I was also thinking about giving up this life but realised that being a spy is part of me now and I don't think I could ever give it up" I shrugged, turning to Aaron who was now looking at me intently.

"Would you ever give it up if the right person came along?" he asked voice full of hope.

I chucked slightly. "Maybe" Just then I thought of a genies plan and I couldn't stop the smile that was forming on my face. “Or maybe that person could work with me, that way we wouldn't have to give up anything" I suggested.

He sighed. “I don't think that would work out"

“Why not?" I retorted. “If you worked for Daniels then we could both be together and work together, doing want we both love. I know you don't want to give up being a spy and neither do I"

He laughed dryly. “I don't think Daniels would want me working for him after working for the enemy"

"Well, we'll never know unless we try, now will we?" I said as I got up from the sand and dusted the sand off my legs. I held my hand out for Aaron to help him get up and he took it with a huge smile on my face.

He held his hand in mine and we walked down the beach, hand in hand, glad that we didn't have any more secrets between us and that we could move on and start a new chapter of our lives.

THATS THE END!!!!! I know, it was a rubbish and cheesy ending and quite short too but it was all I could come up with in time for the Watty Awards deadline- which is today. Once I edit this, hopefully this chapter will be a bit better.

Obviously MAJOR editing will be done to this, maybe by adding more chapters will be uploded, or more dialogue- just basically brushing it up a bit.

Also I will post an epilogue soon! :)

A SEQUEL?

erm..... well I was thinking of doing a series of spy stories, because I love writing spy stories, so there will be a second book, but it won't necessarily be about Aaron and Patricia but it may include them. To be honest, I think it will be better than this one, I can't wait to start writing it, Its amazing. I will probably start writing it after my current work is finished. Can't wait for you all to see it! And I cant wait to start writing it! :)

And stay tuned for the epilogue, being posted soon!

Much love
