a few hours passed and sadie was currently asleep in her silk sheets. tangling her bare legs between the fabric. it wasn't the best position ever, but not the worst. at least that was what sadie thought before she woke again to the agonizing sound of her phone ringing along with those annoying tolls of the bells she set as her ringtone. she woke and turned to turn her phone on, which was more than happy to display that she had received forty likes on instagram, her bestfriend had sent her a snap, the usual...
and fourteen missed calls and voicemails. all from finn.
sadie suddenly sat up right, not caring about the stars that twirled in her growing wide eyes. she was becoming even more anxious to listen to the voicemails left for her ears only, tears trickling her eyes once again, she tapped the first voicemail left for her and heard the dial up ring in her ears before he started to talk.
"i j-just don't unders-stand wh-why you're just i-ignoring me-me l-like this."
sadie's heart sank when she could easily pick out the melancholy tone of finn's alcohol persuaded voice. she quickly canceled the rest of the voicemail and skipped to one a little more recent.
"te-well, t-technically, it w-was your f-f-fault more than mine... so don't dare put the blame on m-me."
'wait,' sadie thought, 'is he talking about our breakup?' she questioned in her head as she ended that voicemail too and skipped to the second most recently sent.
"y-you were so arrogant the whole f-fucking time we were together that i couldn't even think f-for myself first," sadie instantly became tense in her shoulders and jaw once she heard the more intimidating tease in the curly head's choice of words, making the redhead shortly flashback to their last meeting together, which sent shivers throughout her spine. "it was al-always putting you as my top priority."
yep, she rapidly took the life out of that traumatic voicemail and hesitated to open the most recent one, thinking that she had already heard enough for the night and should just worry about getting some sleep and not some drunken ex that's been calling up her phone at about three in the morning - even if what he leaves behind is a little out of order. but you know sadie, she couldn't resist what finn had said as his final words, not really expecting how worse it could get, thinking that she had already been through thick and thin.
"i so want you to be dead to me, cause you literally are, after what you did to me that made me hurt so bad." he spat with a clear and polished tone, as if he had sobered up from the last five minutes he had, sadie pictured him speaking with a unsettling smile on his face as he thought that this would definitely get to her. "bet it'll be hard to look pretty once you're in a casket, huh?"
"holy shi- what the fuck." sadie semi-shouted, not really hoping nor prepared for that kind of conclusion or summary to all hate he just sent her. was she worried about the possibility that finn could kill her while she was sleeping? a little, but sadie stupidly couldn't take any of this seriously, and kinda laughed as a response of what she thought was finn wolfhard trying to act all tough and hard in front of his ex girlfriend.
the ice eyed wonder turned on the bedside lamp next to her bed and started to walk around the room, dialling up the number she thought she couldn't ever feel comfortable calling again. putting the phone to her ear, not caring about the blasting dial up tone ringing straight in her ear, she waited for a voice to accompany her.
sadie was too preoccupied with trying to think of what to do or even try to breathe steadily like a normal person, that she didn't notice the beam of light stream across through her window and then swallowing back up in darkness, nor did she hear the running engine of a car and a drunken moving person slamming the door and tipping the driver, nor did the redhead even hear the car driving away, unaware that the driver had dropped off a monster at her home.
'hello?' the voice spoke, sounding tired and a little disoriented.
"er, yeah. is this wyatt?" sadie spat out quickly afraid of the quietness around her, "um, i think with surname oleff?"
"yep, that's me, who's calling?"
"it's ... me, sa-adie sink."
sadie heard rustling of bedsheets and bare feet slap against the tiled flooring on the other end of the line. "oh my god, sadie, i am so sorry for not recognizing your voic- why did you call? do you need something?"
"um, no," sadie sighed, not really wanting to scare off finn's closest friend about the threatening voicemails. "well... actually, is finn- have you heard from finn recently?"
"we went to the bar together a few hours ago, i only had a couple and wanted to leave early but finn insisted he stayed there for a while longer, but i was tired so i guess i just let him." sadie heard him sound a bit disappointed or ashamed on the other side of the phone, but she didn't think any of it. "why? what's wrong?"
sadie clasped a hand around her forehead as she closed her eyes and released a breath she didn't know she was holding as her bare feet stepped along the chilly wooden flooring. "i-i-i don't know, he left these weird voicemails earlie-"
"SADIE FUCKING SINK!"
that call roared throughout the street and straight into sadie's ringing ears, her heart stopped as she recognized that fool's voice.
"oh shit, oh fuck," she whispered, as she crawled down to her window, her knees already aching from the impact she bestowed upon on them as she suddenly dived herself onto the floor, pulling back the curtain slightly so the boy couldn't see from the outside.
"what was that?" wyatt questioned, suddenly sounding less tired than as he first sounded.
"it's finn, he's outside my house," she shakily spoke out, struggling to breathe, a heavy weight sensation placed upon her chest, "he has a shovel in his hand, oh my god, wyatt! that psychopath is going to kill me like he said he would!"
"sadie, calm dow-" wyatt tried to say.
"don't you fucking dare tell me to calm down!" sadie was hyperventilating at this point, the lightheadedness was soon getting to the redhead, making her slightly dizzy as she screamed.
she watched as her ex boyfriend stumbled over to one of sadie's most treasured rose bush, the only one she got to plant with her grandmother before she passed, and pluck an innocent red flower from the collection, gripping hold of the thorns like it felt like nothing, he was probably so drunk that his mind was too busy drowning itself in whiskey to care about the sudden pain and drippage of blood that was leaking from his hand and onto the grass below.
the boy cried out sadie's name again, but this time, way more aggressive than ever before, while staring at the carnage of his actions left on his palm, it was as if he was blaming sadie for all his pain. sadie's frail heart stopped as the boy limped closer to her front door, her family were away on business, leaving her home alone. with no-one to protect her.
"wyatt, please come help me," she whispered into the phone, but there was no response, "wyatt? hello? please." she looked down at her phone screen through watery eyes as she saw that their call ended just after sadie yelled at him. "shit."
