her eyes too busy being locked on finn incase he snapped back around in a fit of anger that she didn't notice the other pair of footsteps etch closer. wyatt had crouched to his knees beside sadie, slowly resting a hand on her shoulder, making her flinch for a second but was willing to take the other hand to be able to stand up from her fall. "are you okay?" he muttered sweetly, she nodded.

"yeah, i'm totally fine," she spoke, eyes not matching up to his instead clocked on his bruised knuckles. wyatt knew she was staring, but she hoped she didn't bring it up, already feeling the low self-esteem kicking in from finn 'reality check' speech.

"should we leave, i'm not comfortable leaving you here with him, even if he did leave the property, you're still home alone."

"you live with him, wyatt, i don't think you thought that through hard enough."

"but will he remember that," he replied, referring to finn's drunken state, "he normally crashes out at jack's house anyway, not that he knows... as he's too busy with his other frie-"

"shh, let's just go." she interrupted, grabbing his hand and walking towards his car, cautiously placing on step in front of the other.

"wyatt!" finn screamed. not even turning around, his head still high as a kite as he stared at the stars. his yell alerted the pair who were acting out their plan of escape.

"just ignore him." sadie muttered. tugging harder on wyatt's hand as she led him to the driver's seat.

the redhead sat in the passenger's seat, her legs too weak to drive after all this pushing, shoving and running, she moved her eyes rapidly across the new environment. the scratched dashboard, the uneven rear mirror and the cracked music cd cases scattered around the floor of the car. golden boy had put one foot inside the car, leaning into his seat, with his hand on the door he froze as finn shouted again.

"wyatt!" his voice was old and croaky. like an elderly woman calling out for her missing cat after curfew.

"don't do it." sadie whispered, hoping that wyatt was stronger than this as to ignore finn's desperate attempts for his attention. she was relived when he finally chucked himself in the seat. the door slamming in rhythm with him turning off and igniting engine after it had started to splutter in impatience.

"i have unfinished business to sort with you and you're just going to drive away, just like that?"

"it's fine, i'm fine." wyatt breathed as his already purple knuckles grew a white base as his hold of the steering wheel was his way of keeping his temper under control. sadie's hand was on his thigh. they made eye contact, the icy eyes he met were pleading him not to give in and he wished that his own pair was as brave as hers.

"what a fucking coward." that statement was so obviously a hit, so clearly faked as to catch his attention by something he was insecure about.

"that's it!" golden boy replied in a millisecond, slamming the door shut as soon as he opened it, walking around the car by the front bonnet unable to hear sadie screaming out to him to get back in the car, she tried to get out. no matter who hard she pulled on the handle, it did not give way. she leaned over to wyatt's abused door, only to realize that he had locked the car purposefully so she would stay inside.

"oh yeah, here he is, my little champ." finn teased, clapping his hands together like a encouraging parent would to their child when they were taking their first steps.
