"ugh, i don't know why i'm even bothering at this point, he doesn't listen to me and only treats me like dirt and i believe that i should really deserve much more than that," sadie barely paid attention to what her best friend was talking about as she blubbered on about this boy she met at the bar a few nights ago, the younger redhead should have really been more engaged in what sophia was saying instead of picking at her chipping painted nails. "-adie? sadie!"

"yes-ah, what?" she mentally swore at herself for floating away into a world of her own, especially from her friend when she needs it most, but at the same time, replying in a non sympathetic, bothered tone felt like it was getting a message across that she really didn't care, "what did you say?"

"i said. that i deserve better than to be treated like trash." she replied, staring into sadie's face through the computer screen, her blue eyes gazing directly into sadie's own pair. the way she spoke made it seem like there was only one answer that she would like and decently accept to remain as close friends.

"oh yeah, totally. i so don't see what his problem is, i mean look at yourself, you're so hot, adorable, intelligent and funny, basically the whole package but he seems like he keeps missing the delivery."

"aw thanks boo, speaking of boy's..." sadie cringed her eyes closed for a quick moment, knowing what question was going to be asked next, "how is mr wolfhard?" sophia asked with a plastering smirk across her face and wiggling her eyebrows to suggest something beyond sadie's boundaries.

sadie struggled to get words out of her mouth and internally humiliated herself for being such a fool as to not tell anybody about her previous relationship ending up in absolute shambles. she heard sophia ask if everything was okay, echoing like a distant shout, she shook her head slowly as she edged closer to the webcam by an inch or two, growing more tense as she gathered the confidence to speak.

"finn and i-" she choked on air as she tried to swallow the massive lump building up in her throat, "finn and i broke it off, it's over between us."

"what?! when! why?" sophia started raging, she only lived down the street but sadie swore she heard her even without the need from her speakers from the computer.

"look sophia. i'll tell you tomorrow, i'm tired and want to sleep, i'll call you tomorrow morning, is that okay?" sadie yawned, rubbing her fingers in circles around her aching temples.

"yes, yes, of course, don't rush in to tell me, i'll message you tomorrow," sophia kissed her palm to blow a kiss towards the webcam, "love you, babe." she said before sadie's screen turned to black, notifying that she had left the call and also leaving sadie alone with her thoughts. already missing the company of her mouthy best friend, she turned off her computer and pushed herself out of the pink desk chair she had sat in for the last couple hours, only to sit in the little white stool by her large vanity.

sadie sighed deeply while staring at herself in the mirror, picking out the minor flaws in her skin as she slightly appreciated the honey peel off mask she had applied and was currently waiting for to dry that was hiding the monstrosity that was her face. it was quarter past eleven at night, the blinding red numbers on her alarm clock read. she should have been asleep by now, or at least in bed, but no. this churning feeling in her stomach like a tight knot forming inside every organ, like she had been in a car crash or suffering from a severe hangover, prevented her head to calm itself to achieve that small satisfaction of being able to sleep and wake up feeling energized.

she had some music playing in the background of her late night shenanigans, the redhead paid no attention to the lyrics, only dancing to the beat, that steady rhythm kept her mind off the aches inside her chest and more on looking good as she swayed her hips to the music. yet, she still felt this empty, isolate emotion deep inside, feeling it express itself as it overrode every arm wave and footstep. this was so unlike sadie, she was usually fun and animated, like all the time. what has gone so suddenly wrong for her to feel this way?

before she could answer that question for herself, she heard her phone vibrate across her makeup vanity table. who on earth would be calling her this late at night? she skipped over to the mirrored table, hand slightly shaking as it gripped the phone, slowly turning it over as it continued to buzz in her delicate hold.

it was finn.

sadie gulped loudly, compressing a scream of fear from leaving her mouth as she read that cursed name spread across her screen. despite, the sudden shock in the boy's sudden interest in talking to sadie after their last encounter established that they are no longer together and that sadie could only dream of seeing finn without him not lashing out at her. she swiped her shaking finger to answer the call, quick to put the piece of technology up to her ear.

"hello?"

she heard background noises that gave the impression that was somewhere crowded, and busy. chinks of glass and ear-pirecing eruptions of sudden drunken cheer made sadie instantly knew that her ex lover was drinking himself away at his favorite bar.

"sa-die? is t-that you?" finn's voice hiccuped from over the other side of the phone. he no longer sounded as threatening as he was when they broke up, seeming more like he was on the very edge of breaking apart.

"yes, it's me, finn," she said, trying to get her voice to display that she was so over him and wasn't bothered at all about him calling her up out of the blue. "why are you calling me at this ungodly hour?"

"i-i m-miss you," he muttered, nearly raising his voice higher than a whisper. "i mi-iss you s-so much that i-i-i hate my-myself for losing you, i w-want you b-back so ba-badly, sadie, pl-please come b-back."

before sadie could even reply, the call suddenly ended, leaving sadie confused and wanting answers, but way to scared to be actually asking the questions to the boy that so mercilessly broke her heart. this was the first time that he had ever called sadie up drunk, but she was convinced that it wasn't the last as finn probably wouldn't even remember picking up the first shot that was placed in front of him.

feeling even more tired after that little moment of communication between herself and the only boy she hated, sadie took off the face mask, displeased at the thing that greeted her again in the mirror, switched off the music and the lights, and finally got into bed.
