two months after the club incident.

"for god's sake," sadie mumbled as she stared through the glass window that was separating her from the freedom of the world, but she was being enslaved with her working shift, it's not like she even needs the money - she could always run to her father and ask for some but sadie had wanted to prove to herself and her family that she can be independent and that she will work for her own money. yet, the plea for cash seems to be at the most tempting to give in to at this moment, feeling as if she's shackled by irons chains to stay behind this counter.

"what's wrong now?" a voice groaned, sounding fed up with sadie being sadie and she had very right to be, dealing with this chaotic redhead for the last five hours was more demanding and challenging then the soccer mom 'karen' and her five kids she had to deal with today.

sadie turned her head to stare at her colleague, her chin resting in the nest of her palm, expressing a glance which was trying to show that it was already so obvious of what she was complaining about. the co-worker raised her eyebrows, not really in that much power to grant up sadie's paycheck so she could clock out and leave for eternity, though that would be nice to have some peace and quiet until the next vegan obsessed hippy steps into the shop conjuring up a fiery discussion about soy milk.

"i hate this song." sadie said, referring to the sounds booming in the radio that was dispersing throughout the shop. well, she actually liked this song, but it's easier to blame something else for all your troubles in life rather than piling the responsibility onto your shoulders.

"this song?" she pointed at the small speaker box sat on the dusty shelf hanging low by the kitchen entrance. sadie nodded her head. as if she was actually trying to make sadie even more agitated, the co-worker kept eye contact while reaching her hand up, twisting the volume knob up, so it played even louder than before, ruining her precious eardrums. sadie groaned and placed her hands over her eyes, stretching her face when she dragged them down to claps behind her sweaty neck. she opened her eyes to see her colleague over by the phone, 'strange' she thought, 'i never heard it even ring'.

"yes hello?.. yeah, she's here, do you want me to pass it on?.. yeah?.. okay." she spoke in her happy customer voice, which was wildly different to her natural monotone one, she suddenly put the phone to her chest, "it's for you."

"well? move it, rachel!" sadie shooed her away, snatching the cabled phone from her hands, pulling it into her ear and speaking, "yes, hello? who is this?"

"bitch! guess what the fuck just happened to me right now, like this very last millisecond! you would not believe it."

"yes, sophia, i'm fine thanks for asking," she sighed, the air leaving her lungs a symbol for relief as she released the quickly built up tension in her shoulders and leaned her hip against the counter, "what happened?"

"okay so, basically..." she started, already sadie was losing interest, maybe it was a toxic trait of their friendship that she should have smoothed by now now but sophia seemed to notice and always finds that long haired redhead has the best advice - even though it comes from the top of her head the majority of the time.

she darted her blue eyes across the café, the radiating sun was setting in the far distance, sending a warm orange glow to be reflected on the many urban building's windows. she watched the birds fly on and off the telephone wires, finding amusement when they would shuffle up the thin landing area for another bird to squeeze in. sadie shifted her weight as she put her tongue in her cheek, looking at the ground by her shoes that were covered in flour and coffee grains. rachel was sat at on the many empty tables in the room, tapping her feet in beat with the rhythm of the song, her head looking down at her hands, she flexed them, cracked her knuckles - which made sadie squirm - and picked at her short nails. the sun was catching on to the back of her head, making the rebellious strands of hair glow like gold in contrast to her natural dark brown hair.
