Monoma regretted whatever compelled him to let Shinsou explore the whole house. He was an annoying nuisance that Monoma felt like he was seeing everywhere. He was doing it on purpose, knowing Monoma really couldn't do anything to stop him from invading into his life. At this point, he didn't have enough time to get another hybrid comfortable with him so he would have to put up with his antics for just a bit longer.
The days till the meet up were growing thinner, and Monoma knew he would need to give Shinsou some kind of heads up of what to expect. So, at their next meet up of the week, Monoma decided to give him the lowdown.
"It's not that complicated, right?" Shinsou said back."All I have to do is stand around and act nice."
"It's more than that," Monoma stressed."It's a playdate, so you gotta get along with the other hybrids as well as the people. They want to see what a trained hybrid I've had since birth looks like."
"I don't like other hybrids."
"You have to try to be friendly." Monoma leaned back on the couch he was sitting on, hands folding in his lap. Shinsou stared from the couch across from him."You've probably never acted in your life, but in this world your only option is to play a part for every person you meet. But don't stray too far from your true character, or you'll get worn out."
"My true self..." Shinsou mumbled.
"In this case, it's best if you keep your mouth shut most of the time. Answer questions curtly and stay close to my side if you don't like other hybrids. I'll just say you've always preferred humans over hybrids."
"Okay." Shinsou nodded. It seemed easy enough.
"Don't forget to look to me for assistance. If we want this lie to stick, we need to work together."
"That's no problem for me, but what about you?" Shinsou asked, making Monoma raise an eyebrow."To me, you're already my owner, but have you ever thought I was really your hybrid? My affection is real, but you'll have to fake it...unless you've accepted me?"
"Don't talk about something so impossible," Monoma huffed back, rolling his neck."I'll be fine. I've been acting since the day I was born, this is nothing."
Shinsou stared and then shook off his fears. He had seen first hand a bit of Monoma's method acting and it was horrifying. At the shelter, he had all those workers believing he was taking in Shinsou for some noble cause when really it was for this.
Shinsou didn't know what kind of life Monoma had been living previously. Was he born into wealth or did he build his way up? And why was he still not accepting him after it was so obvious he was beginning to enjoy Shinsou's company? He was letting himself be played.
What a strange, infuriating man Monoma Neito was.
"Anyways, logistics wise, you'll be given a collar to wear and will be groomed properly before we leave," Monoma started."Thankfully, your cut has healed nicely, so we don't have to worry about covering that up."
Shinsou unconsciously rubbed against where the cut once was."A collar..." He should've gotten one the minute he became Monoma's hybrid, but the other had refrained for some odd reason. He was a bit excited to receive it, because that was one of the final links to assure Monoma was his owner.
"I told you, remember? Once we're in front of everyone, you'll be a Monoma."
Shinsou had remembered those words through the panic of Monoma's race car driving.
"Monoma Hitoshi," he mumbled to himself."Sounds strange."
"I'll be addressing you as Hitoshi," Monoma explained."I don't know what hybrids like to call their owners, so do whatever feels best."
