Growing up too fast

Chapter 5

Eren Jeager POV 

"Eren, Armin is crying," Mikasa said from the backseat. 

"I know Mika, I can hear him, we'll be there soon and I can give him a bottle."

"OH, can I do it?!" She asked excitedly bouncing in her seat, I laughed a little at her being so excited about this.

"Only if you sit still," I said causing her to go still instantly. After a few moments, I sighed.

"You're still aloud to breathe Mikasa," I said and she stopped holding her breath. Levi laughed from the driver's seat in amusement at Mikasa's antics. 

We finally arrived at the car dealership, I handed Mikasa Armin's bottle and held them both up somehow as we walked around looking for cars that might work. "Hey Levi, what about this one?" I said calling Levi back over. The car was rough not gonna lie but it's not like I had planned to get a fancy car. 

Levi scrunched his face in disgust, "Does that thing even work?" 

"Probably, plus my friend Connie is super good with cars I'm sure he can fix most of its problems, also it's not like I have much of an option," I replied setting Mikasa down since I started having trouble holding both of the and Armin was done with his bottle.

"You have a point, this looks to be to cheapest one in the lot, will it get to your friend's house?"

"Yeah it should, let's go in and talk to the dealer, it's getting cold out and I don't want Armin getting sick," I said and Levi nodded.

After we bought the car I wasn't sure if it was safe so we decided that I would drive Levi's car with Armin and Mikasa and he would take my new (new to me) car and follow me to Connie's house since he would be out of school by now and he said he didn't mind taking a look at it. The only reason I was driving Levi's car is that I was paranoid about having someone else drive Mikasa and Armin without me in the same car. 

"So it definitely looks like the car needs work, lucky for you I have a ton of spare parts I can use," Connie said.

"Ah, how much will this cost?" I asked nervously. Connie just gave me a look of disappointment.

"If you think I'm gonna even let you give me a penny you're wrong, now go inside with Sasha, my mom just made a snack I'm sure you guys are hungry aren't you Mikasa?" Connie asked Mikasa nodded shyly from behind me. Normally Mikasa isn't shy but Connie is kind of loud and it frightens her. 

"Alright, I guess a snack couldn't hurt," I said hesitantly. "Thanks again for fixing the car I owe you one," I said before Sasha led us inside. 

"Eren, do you have to work today?" Mikasa asked.

"Yeah, sorry sweetheart but Hanji is still working on the lab so you get to come with," I said trying to cheer her up, I feel bad having to work all the time but there isn't really anything I can do about it. Luckily my coworkers at the diner love Mikasa and don't have a problem with her coming along and they usually spoil her. 

"Yay!" She cheered. 

"How about you take a nap here, then you can play with everyone at the diner," I suggested knowing she would be sad later if she fell asleep early. Mikasa quickly nodded and laid down next to me on the couch. "You know, you didn't have to stay with me this long Levi," I said realizing he had been helping me pretty much since my car caught on fire.

"It's fine I didn't feel like going to school today anyway, I will have to leave soon, probably once I know your car will work, I have some errands to run." He said and I nodded. I haven't ever seen him in my school so he must go to the other high school across town. "You should give me your number so I can stop by and hang out with you guys." 

"Sure," I replied writing down my number and handing it to him. 

"Well Eren your car is good to go, I replaced a lot so it should run well for a while," Connie said coming inside covered in all kinds of grime.

"Thanks Connie, I appreciate it."

"No problem Eren, but you should probably get going if you have work today." He said. I nodded and checked the time.

"Shit I'm late!" I yelled jumping up.

"Eren bad word," Mikasa complained. 

"Sorry Mika but we have to go, looks like Armin is coming to work too," I said taking him from Sasha who was holding him at the time. 

Levi helped move the car seats to my car and then he left to go do whatever he needed to and I drove off to the diner with Armin again announcing his dislike of car rides by crying. "Eren can I get something to eat at the diner?" Mikasa asked. 

"Yeah but remember to be good while you're in the break room and play with Armin if he gets bored ok? I'll let you have my phone." I reminded.

"Yep! I'll take very good care of him." She replied. 

"I'm sure you will," I said pulling into the parking lot of the diner. I picked Armin up and rocked him for a minute until he stopped crying and then we went inside.

"Hey Eren, you have both of them today?" Petra asked. 

"Yeah, I didn't have time to get Armin to his babysitter so he came along too."

"Well the guys are in the breakroom right now, I think they are smoking but you know them they'll stop as soon as they see Mikasa or she'll yell at them," Petra said with a laugh. It was true, well kinda, I knew they were more worried about the smoke getting to Mikasa and Armin although they rarely see Armin. Mikasa yells at them about how bad smoking is if she catches them. 

I walked back to the break room and opened the door, as soon as Eld and Oluo saw Mikasa they were able to put them out before she saw but Gunther, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky.

"Hey what's that you have in your hand Mr. Gunther?" Mikasa asked innocently.

"Oh crap!"
