Catra and Adora woke up with a terrible hangover. Catra was covered in dirt and trash, while Adora used her hand mirror to inspect a strange bruise on her neck.
"Holy cow, what happened?" Adora asked.
"You think I know?" Catra rubbed her eyes.
"I can't believe we got tattoos! And you kissed me."
"You remember?"
"Well, yeah. That would explain this!" She pointed to the bruise on her neck.
Catra blushed. "Sorry."
Adora stood.
"Well, I'm starving. We should grab some food." Catra nodded.
Catra had planned to just walk to dinner just a mile away, but traffic was building for some show or protest across the way. Catra grumbled at the sunlight.
Adora sighed. "Thank you for yesterday, I've never had so much fun."
"Don't mention it. Just another exciting adventure for us, right?"
Adora shrugged. 'The drinks, the tattoos, what a perfect last hurrah."
Catra helped Adora dodge the cars as they crossed the road. " Last hurrah?"
Adora walked in front of Catra on the sidewalk. " Well, I'll be leaving soon Cat. We can't do this kind of stuff forever." She chuckled.
"Why not?" Catra was not laughing.
Adora sighed. "I have a family now. There is so much more to the world then bars and rotting houses. Think of all the good I can do!"
Catra rolled her eyes.
"It all works out then! You go to Africa, save the world and l beg for money on the streets!"
Adora gasped.
"At least you know where to find me when you feel like sucking face again," Catra spat.
" I never meant to insult you"
"You think you're so high and mighty. New flash Adora, this is all I have!" Catra gestured to the busy, fallen city around her.
Adora looked down nervously.
"I love you Catra, I really do. I'm so sorry things turned out like this."
Catra looked up. " I love you too. I'll meet you at the diner in a minute."
"Promise?" Adora smiled.
"Promise."
Catra needed a break. She had never been truly loved by anyone, and the stress of preserving the relationship was getting to her.
She didn't mind the pain or being homeless. She could hitchhike, or sit around the bar all day. But being alone, in a messy, crowded world?
Catra sat by a pool. the gate surrounding it as well as its neighboring hotel was broken, so she took the moment by herself.
A large figure tapped her on the shoulder, wearing a mask.
"Cathrina Rodriguez. Always a delight."
"Mr. H, What are you doing here?" Catra shivered and moved closer to the gate.
"I hear your family has been the subject of some controversy."
"I don't know anything about my family, you cretin. "
" Such rude language!" Mr. H reached his hand out. "Miss Weaver will be sure to set you straight."
Catra huffed. "I'm 18 now, it's not illegal for me to be out here."
"No. but you know what is illegal? Stealing money from your housemate, purchasing alcohol without a I.D, and kidnapping the William's daughter." His voice lost its playful edge.
Catra narrowed her eyes.
"By the way, I'm sure Adora would be more than happy to go into town with me and sort this whole thing out."
Catra was fuming. She gained a running start to hit the man straight in the face, but he dodged the hit and took her by the shoulders. She managed to hit enough to give him a bloody nose, but he was much stronger.
All of Catras money fell from her pockets.
"Leave Adora alone!" Catra pleaded through gritted teeth.
Mr. H simply grimaced and slammed Catra into the dirty pool.
The girl struggled, but her clothes weighed her down, and she was too tired to push away the heavy trash above her.
You deserve this. Catra thought as she let the water pour into her lungs. Adora needed you.
Blackness filled Catra's vision, and she lay completely still.

After a few minutes, Catra's mind was scrambling. someone was beside the pool. light broke through the water as the person moved the large trash. A hand reached out.
I have to be hallucinating. Catra thought.
The pale hand held Catra's hair and dragged her to the poolside. The face was blurry but leaned closer. For a kiss?
Catra's eyes bolted open. Not a kiss, at all.
The tan girl sat up, coughing up water. Adora rushed to hug her. "Oh Catra, I was so scared!"
Catra hugged her back. "Did he hurt you?'
"No. I didn't trust him for a second. it took me ages to find you."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Catra felt tears falling from her eyes. "What do we do?
Adora kissed Catra and burst into tears.
The two held each other until they couldn't cry anymore.
