When Catra woke from her tear-stained cat nap, she was desperate for some fresh air. Shadow Weaver was still on the phone, and Lonnie, Kyle, along with Roleligo were trying to make dinner for the four of them with a half-loaf of stale bread and canned beets. Adding to it all, police sirens were inching closer and closer.  Legally speaking, Catra was an adult, and Shadow Weaver had no obligation to keep her around.

This wasn't going to end well.

Catra jumped along  the latter of the bunk bed and dug into Lonnie's mattress. It was a good thing Catra and Adora were so adamant to share a bed, Lonnie's was lumpy and stiff from everything hidden inside. still, the brunette managed to climb down with at least $30 in cash.

Where to go?

One place, in particular, came to mind. Beast Island, America's cesspool, music hall and eternal pride parade all wrapped into one.

When Catra was ten, Shadow Weaver caught her stealing an apple from the dining room. Though it was an innocent snack, all of Catra's rib showing through her fevered tan skin. Shadow Weaver took Catra by her matted hair across the hall, into the bathroom and forced the skinny girl to sit in a bathtub of ice water.

Catra held her tears back until she nearly passed out. Shadow Weaver send Adora into the restroom to clean her face after a day of school.

Catra jolted up and cried in fear. Adora, wide-eyed, not knowing what had happened, helped ease Catra out of the bathtub.

Adora asked what had happened, but Catra was inconsolable. "I can't do this anymore!" She whispered after a moment.

Adora gasped in shock and held her friend closer.

"Listen, one day I ought to take you to Beast Island."

"Huh?"

"Its amazing , Cat. All different people, artists, and singers. Once you find your talent, we can get you a star on the walk of fame. Shadow Weaver won't have the guts to mess with you anymore."

"Just me and you, forever? Catra slurred in her fevered state"

"I promise."

Catra managed to sneak past Shadow Weaver in the kitchen and waited for the perfect moment to sneak out of the broken living room window. She ran and ran, across empty streets and feet of a grassy woodland. She looked back to see the ground home and collection of ugly brick apartments behind it. Catra, petty and annoyed at the sight, stuck her middle finger in the air, before continuing to walk.

Guess she'd just have t make it to Beast Island on her own.

A few miles from home, a crowd form around a stage. Double Trouble was written across a backdrop in green spraypaint. The singer was already showing off their elaborate costume changes when Catra showed up. She knew from experience, that it wasn't wise to just stick around with no ticket.

Unfortunately, curiosity killed the cat, and Catra found a sturdy oak tree to perch herself in while she watched the concert. Something about Double Trouble's stage presence and vocal work was captivating, high notes and melodies with a backup singer sent Catra reeling.

Let's begin🎵

Catra grinned as the spectacle began and ended. She was a moment away from catching Double Trouble as they walked away but realized something.

She was stuck in the tree.

"Shit."
